Best route for Campervan East

Pretty sure you will find you are not allowed to turn left from A37 onto A361 as you plan so you will either need to use the Shepton/Wells/Glastonbury route, or head South on A37 then West through lanes and Baltonsborough village to Glastonbury.

We are travelling down from the barren wastelands of the north east, Sunderland to be precise, aiming for blue route / gate C. Last year, we ended up planning a very long route, sort of taking advice from the main glastonbury website. 

 

Basically, A1 > M1 > M42 > M40 > A34 > A303 > A37 - about 6.5hrs...

 

Aiming to get down to the main site for 2pm at the latest, so, we were thinking this year, A1 > M1 > M42 > M5 > M32 > A37- which is, according to google, an hour shorter.  

 

Thoughts?

This is the route I take every year, not usually a problem (apart from 2009 when an accident caused gridlock for miles).
