4th Announcement

Gone pretty quiet around here with rumours and such... Any thoughts on who will see on Wednesday's announcement? Should imagine that we are going to start seeing a bit of filler now but still hoping for a few decent names added

Machine Head and Deftones are looking likely. I expect Frank Turner, Protest the Hero to turn up as well with their kilitours just finishing.

Wouldn't both Machine Head and Deftones sub? They're both bigger than the two subs they've announced. And have Deftones actually got any dates this year?

Think Deftones would Saturn headline to be honest on sunday, in between AIC and Metallica. Machine head have a thing about always being on mainstage so they'll sit under Iron Maiden I reckons, definitely won't be under LB on friday after 2009's debacle haha.

Can see the special guest being Frank turner as he plays the o2 that night

Would like to see Frank added, dunno if he'd sub though, even though he is undoubtedly massive. If slayer don't end up 2nd stage headlining - as I dont think that was confirmed as they were a logo band in 2010 despite playing 4th down Apollo could see him doing that. Would be something a bit different on Saturn for people to round the night off who don't want to wait for a good spot for Maiden.

Certainly expecting a fair few names out this time, I mean compare the 20 bands announced so far for Sonisphere versus the around 70 for Download it would be nice to get a stronger lineup out there now, yes there are some good names announced but lets add a bit of substance!!

Also given the reaction to the fact that there will be no Saturn Stage on Friday building up a strong lineup for the Friday on the Apollo would be good... Mind you, I am trying to remember the wording now, but thinking back I am sure that the question was if there would be a Saturn stage lineup for Friday, which the answer was no... But I don't believe I have seen any confirmation that the stages will be called "Apollo" and "Saturn" this year, so if there is no stage called Saturn then there wouldn't be a lineup for it, right???

I also like to see a few curveballs in announcements but after Chas and Dave I am not sure how much more curved they could get!

Apparently those quotes are a bit outdated - pretty sure they already have some shows planned for 2014, and tbh it makes it sound more like taking time off writing new stuff he doesn't really state in the context of shows.

It's a pretty clear leak anyways! Great booking, Reel Big Fish and Frank Turner is superb too.
