Hand Luggage - Easy Jet

Guest clarebear86

Hi i'm planning on taking my tent on as hand luggage (with poles and pegs checked in in my rucksack of course) but looking at the maximum dimensions i'm worried about getting it on. The tent is slightly longer than the easyjet max dimensions however it is nowhere near as wide or as deep so is it likely that it will be ok to take on or will easyjet be dic*s and make us check it in?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated

Thanks in Advance

It depends where you're flying from. At most British airports they are absolutely strict about it - and yet in much of Europe they'll give you leeway.

Assuming you're checking poles etc into the hold could you engineer the tent package so it's a bit shorter (with a bungee rope, say?)

Also, don't forget EasyJet only allow ONE piece of hand luggage - so you're going to have to fit your essential bits like purse, phone and Glasto ticket into your tent bag...

oh i know that. i'm bringing my handbag and my boyfriends gona bring the tent on as his hand luggage. i'm flying from Belfast. Hmm thats a good idea, I might try and roll it up tighter and tie it with something to try and make it a bit smaller.

Thanks for the advice

I've tried taking tent pegs on a plane before, they won't let you poles have been fine.

Work out if the tent bag will fit diagonally. All you need to be able to do is get it into one of those cages, doesn't matter how you do it.

I assume you have some form of hold luggage too? Can you squeeze the pegs and poles into that? Without those you'll have no problem because it'll be all squishy.

Ok dimensions for hand luggage is 56cm long x 45cm wide x 25cm deep

If your tent bag is bigger than the dimensions allowed then unpack it and stuff it into a bag of the correct size. They dont tend to bother much if your bag is slightly over but if it is noticable that it is over the size then they will ask you to put it in the hold. Or attach it to your hold bag with black nasty (Garden Tape) and place it in the hold.

    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
