That kind of crowd fun is part of the charm of reading/leeds, imo. In '08 bring me the horizon opened on the sunday and a bit of bottling began (people were annoyed that 2 of the most anticipated acts of the day, including slipknot, had pulled out since the weekend began and instead they bumped other acts up and put this dross on), a young bloke, who could only be described as a big metal viking, started accurately punting bottles at the band, while they dodged. As the show progressed people were bringing him prepared bottles and he acted as the crowd's human catapult for 30 minutes, with the crowd 'oohing and aahing' like at fireworks as kids according to placement and accuracy, paying basically no attention to the music played, but loving those moments where the lead singer had to jump to avoid a bottle coming for the ankles or swerve for one coming for his head.

Now I know it's juvenile, probably dangerous and frowned upon and all that, but it was the most fun I had at any act that day, in the end. The crowd made their own entertainment.

I could repeat a similar story at glastonbury about keanu reeves' dogstar and "the amazing peach shot" but that sort of thing seems to have been banished from glastonbury these days.
