Did people moan as much about festie line ups pre 2000 when festival going seemed to explode in popularity?

I only started attending festies in 2001 and can't remember being bothered then about line ups. Maybes as there seems to be so many other festivals about now, people have more choice and they're more selective about where they spend their monies.

I'm wondering if these forums are suffering from 'Reading syndrome'. ;)

It used to be the case that posters in the Reading foprums used to say how much they were looking forwards to it, then when the announcement was made they said it was shit and that they weren't going. In those cases it was predominantly kids who were never going to go anyway.

Okay, the line up isn't the best. No festival has a great line up this yaer though. Every festival seems to be grabbing every act they can get.

The advantage Glastonbury has over festivals like R&L is that it's not a line up dependent festival. You could have an epic weekend and not see any music acts.
