Camper Van West Fields

Hello,

After the confusion with the CV tickets this year it looks like we will be in the West Camper Van fields.

Has anyone on here used them and what are they like? Looking for info on:

- Facilities (quantity and locality).

- Levelness (if that is even a word).

- Height (i.e. would they have flooded if open during the very muddy years).

- Noise Levels (seem a lot closer to the festival, so more noise in the early hours?)

- Distance to stages.

- Enter/exit issues?

Many thanks

Late

I stayed there last year and whilst I haven't stayed on the East fields so can't give a direct comparison I thought it was great.

There were plenty of toilets which were cleaned every day, as per the rest of the site. There was a fresh water tap right next to where we pitched (might just have been lucky but as there wasn't a huge queue of people there every morning so I suspect there were plenty dotted around the place.)

We arrived later than planned (late weds afternoon) due to the traffic and stopping off to watch the football so were in the bottom corner of the last field to fill up though, which is on quite a slope so if it had hammered it down we could have had problems. You do get the impression that you're on higher ground than much of the festival site and certainly the walk down to the main stages is all downhill so maybe not such a problem.

Again may have been because of our location, but it was really quiet at night, which was handy as my wife was expecting so not really up for all night partying!

Plenty of stewards around and those on the pedestrian gate were brilliant all week. No problems at all getting in and out (bit of queue sometimes) but then we always had our bands and pass-outs so wouldn't expect any different.

The only down side was the walk to the main areas. I can't remember exactly how long the walk was but quite a trek to the other stage. Not too bad when it's all downhill in the morning but certainly got the blood pumping on the way back up! I know the size of the site means there are plenty of long walks but bear in mind the CV field is outside the main festival site so is at the furthest extremity from anywhere!

I have used both campervan fields before - West last year was very relaxed and you could pretty much park up anywhere you wanted in the top field. Some campers made use of trees for shade and some even parked in a fairly isolated spots away from any neighbours

The facilities are basic and same as all other fields.

It is indeed a trek to main stages but not too bad for Park stage

The big plus for me is it is pretty much the first entrance/ exit from M5 - early on the Monday morning we drove straight off site and never had to stop for traffic at all

  • 2 months later...

Not stayed in field before but drove out and looked thru gate a few weeks back as got ticket for west this year.

Near the top end is quite sloping but rest of it looks ok to me. make sure you bring a leveling ramp tho.

quick tip.. bring a car tyre pump of some sort and you can also let some air out the uphill wheel if you can't get level with ramp on downhill wheel.

You can dig up hill wheel in as well but don't know if they would approve and could be awkward in wet conditions getting it back out of hole.

coming in wednesday evening myself so hope some level pitches left

Thanks, looks like i might have to make a few ramps :-)

How were the vans parked last year? Side on to the hill or facing the hill?
