Hi all,

I have been debating whether or not to get tickets for this festival, seems pretty cheap considering it looks a fairly decent, chilled out festival.

There isn't much information on this site about the festival so if anyone has been to Beach Break Live before, any info/reviews would be much appreciated.

** EDIT: I MEANT 2011 IN THE TITLE MY BRAIN IS OBVIOUSLY STILL STUCK IN LAST YEAR. **

Hi, I went in 2009 & 2010. I am thinking about going in 2011 depending on how much money I have as it is quite close to Glastonbury.

2009 was a bit of a disaster as they event had to be moved from Cornwall to Kent but it looks like 2011 will be in the same place as 2010.

This festival is one of the best kept secrets going. It's easy to get to by car & the coach booking makes it even easier if you live near a town centre. The site is amazing, set in open & closed woodland with the beach about 5/10 minute walk away depending on traffic. The beach is really nice but I doubt you can surf on it & was great to get clean in/sober up.

The bands during the day are pretty unheard of acts but most people are down the beach at this point or getting over a hangover. It only really kicks off around 5-6pm when it starts getting cooler & the more well known acts get going. The dance tent as some brilliant DJs (mostly liquid D & B) & is pretty loud until 3-4am.

There is also a smaller "Ghetto Blaster" for more underground/eclectic DJs. The ACM tent has bands playing from ACM in Guildford & can make for a bit of a change. You would probably bump into someone around the site who was playing.

The only downsides are... only allowed a crate of 12 beers in so that they make you buy their own alcohol. The disappointing thing was that you couldn't buy crates there so it really limited how much you could socialise around your camp pre-drinking (although I managed to stash LOTS of extra booze in both times relatively easily despite security giving your bags a good going over. Just plan well ahead for where you hide your booze, its quite good fun thinking up the random places to sneak it in.

&

Ridiculous queueing system to get in. One queue to get wrist bands, another to get on a coach to the camping site, another to get your wrist bands checked (jumped this queue, saved over an hour) & then another to get your bags checked. I queued for under 2 hours but rumours were that some people queued for over 5 hours.

This is a nice festival & pretty chilled out, however in the evening there are a lot of people in absolute states from drinking too much. I wasn't personally offered any drugs for sale but I know that there was plenty going around, I guess no one was sharing. I probably would avoid this festival if I wasn't a student or wasn't around 19-23 as you would stick out from the young crowd.

It's difficult to compare this festival to any other as it's quite unique. It doesn't have the quirkiness of Bestival but it does have the music & the hot girls whilst it doesn't have the carnage & filth of Reading, it is quite similar in layout (+trees & a beach) but with much less people. Cheap too.

If you do decide to go, get down the gym pronto.
