I went about 3 years ago the last year of college. And stayed in the old part that had all the old buildings and around.. It touristy but not touristy, Sitting outside a pub as well till 4am about 96 degrees

and munich is the most expensive city in germany apparently. hooray!

It's a short train journey from Munich, I found it fascinating and grim in equal measures. Can't be as grim as a Take That gig though!

I speak sod all German, but got all around the country just fine- mebbe 90% of people you will meet will be happy to help you in English.

The 110km to the Munich might be more of an issue. Airport website says there's a bus several times a day to Munich, or the train station is on the main line to Munich and 4km from the airport.

Will probably depend mostly on what time you arrive.

The "Hofbräuhaus" is the famous one but I thought there were other better places. Did decent food though.

The "Augustiner Großgaststätte" was my favourite. Absolutely massive place.
