We've tried to pop in a couple of time on the way down to Glastonbury at about 5:30 - 6AM. There is usually a lot infrastructure their for the solstice celebrations and consequently a lot of security. They block off all the car parks meaning you can only stop on the road, which is not very easy/safe round there. If you're looking for somewhere interesting to go for a sunrise breakfast I can recommend looking for a random brown sign and seeing where it takes you. For previously Glastonburys this has lead us to:

2007 - Wood Henge - not that great, turns out all the wood rotted thousands of years ago

2008 - Alfreds tower - rather nice tower in the middle of nowhere whith no obvious purpose

2009 - This column celebrating a vice admiral whose name escapes me: Link There is a great view across what I possibly inaccurately describe as the Vale of Avalon to Glastonbury Tor

This year we were going to do Glastobury Tor but as the carparks are open early we might just head straight there for our traditional sunrise breakkie
