Mumford and Sons

At first I was really miffed that Mumford and Sons clashed with Florence and Vampire Weekend. Then i just resigned myself to the fact i've seen both Florence and Vampire so i'll go see Mumfords.

But...

That John Peel stage is gonna be rammed. Their popularity has suddenly soared. I'm gutted they are not playing the Pyramid. They'd be lower on the bill but... imagine a sunny afternoon at the Pyramid dancing away to Mumfords. The perfect band as people chilled... but then got into it.

Little Lion Man on the Pyramid... ahhhh (daydreams)

Ahhh well.

Anyone think they'll pop up anywhere else?

in fairness I quite like the album, but it is just one album and I wouldnt say they are really deserving of a pyramid slot just yet. Plus, they were probably booked ages ago before their popularity soared.

Furthermore, I would imagine they are much better suited to a tent than a massive outdoor stage. It will be packed, but just get there early. I'd say the bookers have got this one about right.

I would expect them to pop up elsewhere too though, possibly the special guest slot on the park perhaps.

My favourite album of the year so far, really uplifting, really gets my foot tapping. I had hoped for a david gray style last minute bump to a mid-afternoon pyramid slot in addition to the JP gig. It WILL be rammed, they would be better suited to the pyramid, imo.

Ah well, pretty sure they'll be evening pyramid/other next year.

I'm sure we'll all still have a great time at JP, rammed or not, music is ecstatic :) Probably the gig I'm most looking forward to (although there are ALOT of contenders)

I agree entirely - though I don't know why, but I don't think we'll see them in another slot.

I really, really like Sigh No More - cracking album. Looking forward to them. In a tent.

In a radio interview some time ago Michael Eavis said they were playing the park. The line-up then came out and noticed they were billed in the John Peel tent.

Do you think michael was mistaken ?

I was talking to Ted a while ago after a gig and he said Emily wanted them to play The Pyramid but they didn't think they were big enough and asked for JP. That humilty just endeared them to me more, saw them at The Park in 2008 and I have to say I think this is the perfect stage for them.........possibly the Park special guests Saturday? Would make sense with Marling playing too.

I agree with the decision to have them in a tent, saw them at loopallu in tent and the sound produced was brilliant, as was the gig. I'd be worried that it may be a bit lost on an outdoor stage, a bit like fleett foxes sound being lost on pyramid last year in my opinion.

Personally I can't stand Mumford & Sons. I find them incredibly over-rated & twee. 6music keeps playing their singles to death.

However I can see that they could really have a Glastonbury moment this year. I'm sure people will enjoy it wherever they play.
