Security in camper van field

Hi guys, I know there is a lot of talk about how to stay safe when staying inside the fence but I was wondering what the guidelines are for in the camper van field. Has anyone had any experience of things being stolen from their awnings? Any advice to give?

Normally when we camp up we stay on campsites where we're happy to leave our table and chairs etc out. Do we have to pull everything inside the awning or does it have to go back in the van everytime??

Some advice would be much appreciated as it'll have an impact on how much stuff we end up lugging down

hiya

this will be our 3rd year in a row in the camper van field, and we've never had any problems. we've left chairs and tables out, and have had tents pitched as well, and nothing has ever been stolen.

there is security around apparently, but i haven't actually seen them (but to be honest, i've never really looked).

i think the best advice is simple common sense - don't leave anything outside that you will be gutted to lose. but all in all, i think you'll be fine.

I have seen people leave everything outside, including BBQ, etc. You can't just drive into the CV field, so if there were thieves about, they would be coming from the inside.

Have never heard about any problems, so wouldn't worry too much about leaving table and chairs out.

A couple of friends had their water & waste containers nicked a couple of years ago & at £45 each they were quite peed off. So last year they secured them with padlock & chain thru the caravan wheel.

I've had radio access to security conversations around that area the last few years and thefts is one of the things I heard little of. The occasional out of control barbeque or sound system too loud but not thefts.

If you're going to Glasto to be over security concsious it may ruin your weekend. Just don't leave valuable stuff outside and then relax. If somebody takes a liking to a cheap argos plastic chair then sobeit, they probably just need it to sit on rather than collapse!
