There were plenty of the "glastonbury audience" at the other stage in 2007. One of the biggest crowds I've ever seen at the other stage to be honest (I mean, Pendulum had a big crowd there last year, but it got pretty sparse after the mixing desk...at Arcade Fire in '07 the crowd almost went back to the food stalls!). I think you are underestimating their popularity.
