Lottery if you get searched or not in my experiance last year. I was in a group of 20, and only 5 of us got searched, me being one of them.

Anyway the guy who was looking through my bag clearly saw both my crates (me being 16 back then). but he took no notice of it. So I wouldn't lose much sleep over that.

And think about it, much easier for the security to let you through, stops arguements from occuring and makes the line move faster. And even once you get in, they're pretty easy going about the age factor. So don't worry.

sorry but you cant possible prove anything as I have been working with the WBC for the past twenty years and I know that since the change in the act the bar staff have not been turning a blind eye and Reading is well known for teenager trying to get drinks who are underage.

It's one thing saying it's going to become stricter.

The festivals want to make money, you make money at festivals by selling beer etc. Don't think bar staff are going to worry over the fact that someone may look a tiny bit younger than 18.

Well tbh i'll be like 3 days of 18th:| even though its still not legal, i look like a 20 year old now.. so i shouldn't really have a problem getting served

its just if i do i would want to take stuff in with me.. but dont wanna get id'd for it..

Are you Nuts ? Who in their right mind would risk a Criminal conviction just to make the bar more money ?

We are all Volunteers who mainly have full time jobs so a Criminal conviction could end up in a person being sacked from the their full time job.

In my Team I have Civil Servants - Local council workers - Pub landlords etc etc and no one is going to risk being caught out - Reading is crawling with Trading standards officers { the department that deals with under age drinking } who are watching who we serve to.

So are you claiming that you would risk it if it meant that you would lose your full time job ?

Thousands of bars and nightclubs across the UK don't have trading standards checking who is being served every day/night.

A Pub may employ staff who get commission so they may turn a blind eye but at the bars at Reading no one is on commission so even if we sell bugger all the groups we represent will still get paid so there is absolutely no reason why any staff is going to take the risk.

I remember Glastoworker throwing a similar strop last year when this topic was being discussed.

To the original poster- though you might be unlucky and encounter a jobsworth steward, or a strict member of the bar staff (I know they're just following the law before you attack me Glastoworker,) but chances are you'll get in/get served with no problem- me and my friends were 18 last year and didn't look paticularly old, and weren't asked for ID throughout the weekend.
