Bigger the band, bigger the hammering?

I think the sad answer for a Glastonbury forum is that there are lot of opinionated intolerant posters who seem to delight in slagging off music and bands they don't like.

There is also the thing about when bands make it big some people will say they've sold out and start having a go.

Pink Floyd is a classic example. I remember seeing them in 67 when they were still a little known cult band. By the 70's when they were successful a lot of their original fans were having a go.

However if you manage to survive you eventually acquire a sort of treasured status when everyone will return.

ultimately the bigger the band the more people that are fully aware of them, the more people that are aware of them the more likely that some of those people will not like them.

people will not be as aware of smaller bands and if they dont know of a band they wont comment about them.

It is quite funny, most of my friends love the music they love and just enjoy listening to it. I'd never go and watch Coldplay but I don't spend my life frothing at the gash about how crap they are.

I always feel a bit sorry for self-anointed music snobs - they spend their whole time running around getting agitated about how crap certain bands are and getting all het up about groups 'selling out' or people listening to the 'wrong music'.

I find it quite amusing, it's like watching a dog looking into a mirror and getting really angry with its own reflection, they think they're being intimidating and important but everyone else is actually laughing at them.

It is quite funny, most of my friends love the music they love and just enjoy listening to it. I'd never go and watch Coldplay but I don't spend my life frothing at the gash about how crap they are.

I always feel a bit sorry for self-anointed music snobs - they spend their whole time running around getting agitated about how crap certain bands are and getting all het up about groups 'selling out' or people listening to the 'wrong music'.

I've been thinking about this, most bands brought up by people on here I'm not interested in at all especially the potential headliners. I think it's just I don't like alot of music pre 90s or post 90s. There are alot of exceptions though.

My main problem with "popular" bands is that if you don't like them its alot more difficult to avoid them, they seem to be pushed onto you by every Tv channel, advert, radio station and c**t down the pub, its alot easier to avoid smaller, less popular bands. For example if you hate Kings of Leon you'll never hear the end of it, but if you hate someone smaller like say Modest Mouse or Our Lady Peace nobody gives a sh*t

have you not thought that maybe theses people you say are posing just have a different taste in music to you? i don't like any of those bands apart from Kasabian and i was massively underwhelmed by them last time i saw them just because i like different things doesn't mean im posing
