Shangri-la

I did see the Travel Agents. Started like a departure lounge with hostess's and then a dj started playing and they all started bouncing around.

Also found a bar in one corner. Was on a bit of a slope and the bass frequency from next door had a affect on the body and head. Nice that they sold JD & Coke in there

Overall a great experience and love the fact the whole area has expanded

I went to shangri la for the 1st time this year on sat night missing Bruce on purpose, and had one of my best nights at glastonbury.

Only gripe is that it should be open on thursday and maybe wednesday too next year, same goes for trash city. I didnt get a chance to go there at all this year.

As people have said it gets way too busy once the headliners on the main stages have finished but if you sacrifice a headliner then its great fun.

It was amazing this year. I've camped in William's field since '98 and seen the evolution from a cafe to what it is now.

Walking through Badlands was just like being in a comedy Bladerunner, and Club Dada and Arcadia are awesome intimate venues that give so much more than the equivalent big stages.

We went from 9/10 ish Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and had an awesome time.

The crowds are only there for an hour or so after the headliners, and so long as you settle somewhere before this for a bit it's fine.

It's not just for people in the know, but does reward a bit of searching and exploring, and 1am is not he best time to do this.

I hated Lost Vagueness towards the end as it seemed pretentious and mocking to the punters, but Shangri La, Arcadia, and Trash City seem to have found a superb balance of interactive art and fantastically surprising shows.

Absolutely wonderful.

Weird thing was it was very much open last year on the Thurs! Was partying very hard at the Trash City Arcadia in the pissing rain for many hours...heard it all had something to do with late delivery of equipment and set up this year...something about stuff not being delivered until 10 days late! Not sure if true and obviously there was nothing to indicate in the programme that it was all due to open on the Thurs this year...proper ruined me night by not being open though. :D

Heyho...am moving in from gates open next year! :D

This is my first negative post ever on these boards but I've got to say that I was a little bit let down by this part of the site this year. On both Friday and Saturday I was there from 2 til about 5 and whilst there were lots of people there, there did not seem to be that much on. I don't know if my timing was bad but when I walked through Arcadia there was little going on other than a good crowd at Strummercamp. In both evenings, I never saw the gas flares going.

As a big fan of LV and having enjoyed the area last year, I just got the impression that what sounded excellent on paper never actually materialised. Still saw some decent stuff but thought it was weaker than previoous years.

    • The first half of that game was cracking but then I fell asleep at half time. Maybe that's just the momentum of things.

    • A win is a win but it was a very poor game with only 4 shots on target in the whole game. Scotland obviously handed a massive bonus with Brazil and Morocco drawing but I don't think either of them will be too worried.
