Booze ain't contraband...

I'm sure you'll be fine on the way in just watch where you partake in your spliffing as my mate got all his taken off him in 07 but we were camped at the side of the pathway. Some ar$e security took it all, and I can bet you ten bob it wasn't handed in to his superior.

Last year when i went through there were police and sniffer dogs as well as the usual security lot going thru bags. Can't see why it wont be the same this year.

I will be smuggling vodka and coke into the area in a plastic 500ml coke bottle.

I'm not paying for download drink. maybe one a day

Also. Is safe to leave alcohol in the tent? I don't want some under 18 pikey looking for alcohol and stealing mine.

OHHHH! The arena!! I get it now, lol.

Doh!

Yes it is quite hard to get alcohol into the area actually, they sniff test all water bottles and you ain't allowed to bring in anything else that aint sealed. ie if you have an unsealed coke bottle it's a no no. They don't pay you down or anything but they check all bags.

I managed to sneak in a rucksack of booze one year by hiding the straps under my hood so they didn't notice I was wearing a bag. but ig they do bust you it's a long walk back to your tent and a re-join of the queue to get back in the arena. or you can dump it.

Every year there are mountains of booze and and bottles at the Arena entrance. A couple of tips

Absolutely no glass bottles regardless of what inside, even an empty one will be taken from you

If you do try, you need to be prepared to do one of three things in the event that it is found

1. Drink it all in one go

2. Dump it

3. Take it back to the campsite

Oh, they can also be a bit funny about cameras, particularly camcorders. If your camera/camcorder is big, a bit flash, and expensive looking, they may regard it as "professional" and not let you in with it. I know, its happened to me, spent an hour taking it back to the car ! Stick with small cheap stuff.

The last one really pisses me off, they don't want people shooting video, but you never see DVD or decent TV available. All to do with copyright or something I spose

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
