She will be awesome :), it is my humble opinion that she's the coolest girl in the world.

But primarily I can't wait to get there on Wednesday and having put our tent up (by myself as always) watch the sunset whilst doing the traditional weds afternoon tor (Punn intended, but acknowledged as utter crap) and anticipating the days ahead ... Heaven!!

It's the cheer for me, definitely, when you're all hot and aching from carrying far too much stuff for miles from the car, you're arguing over who's got the proper tent pegs cos the biodegradable ones are shite and then you hear this noise sweeping across the site, and you just stop and whoop with thousands of other people, and you realise how bloody fantastic everything is!!!!

Sorry, really long sentence, too excited!!!

It's this for me. People have an annoying habit of being very guarded or even unpleasant in the real world, glasto confirms my faith that deep down everyone's pretty cool after all. :)

This is a great thread, i get something from almost every reply, maybe not the Lilly Lovers posts, but what the hey. I love the drive down to the site and walking through the super fence, thinking no one could get over that even with a poll vault! Making camp, going back to the car for the rest of our nectar and then finally sitting down and realising im here for the best week of the year :) Its getting closer peeps :)

I love lying in my tent and hearing a tiny snippet of peoples conversations as happy people walk by my tent. Some of the things you hear are so funny and so hard to imagine what the full conversation was actually about!

Glastonbury is coming people!!!!!!!!

So is it really as magical as everyone seems to be making out on this thread?

This is going to be my first Glasto, after many years of 'normal' festivals. And although walking through the gates and setting up my tent is has been quite good for me in the past, I've not found it that exciting really. Going to see the bands and jumping around like a looney has meant so much more. Out of all the postings on this thread there has only been a couple of music related references (and they are from a couple of kids obsessed by Lily Allen!)

I am getting quite excited by the whole thing now. I hope you're all not building it up too much.

And what's the 'big cheers going up across the site" all about?

You are going to love it. Words cannot describe. Its like no other festival. I'm looking forward to there being not many bands i want to see this year, as the festival is about so much more than just music.

And...

the 'big cheers going up across the site' happens only on the Wednesday and can only be described as a mexican wave of sound that sweeps across Glasto. Some people will start whooping and cheering with excitement, and this carries across the whole site. Gives me goosebumps every time!

Having set up and settled into my camping area, my favourite moment is probably that first big walk around the site, drinking my first few drinks, and it slowly coming back to me just how special and unique the place is. Will probably happen Wednesday evening, and into Wednesday night. I guess the rest of the festival will be downhill!

Mine will be going to Glastonbury on my own for the first time!

Being able to camp where I want, drink cider when I want, listen and dance to what I want and meet as many fabulous people as I can without having to worry about another soul! Only at Glasto could I possibly feel content going on my own...absolute bliss!

Happy times :D

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
