  1. Well yeah, you don't like metal so Download really shouldn't book to your taste anyway otherwise it would be filled with shit like Alestorm! 😜
  2. I'm seeing Guns n Roses at their London show next month. I saw them when was it just Axel which was the usual coming on late shit so I wasn't fussed about see them ever again but my mate has had tickets for the original line up for years now. However his missus has broken up with him since so I said I will take her tix to try and cheer him up. I'm thinking of buying a KFC bucket and a mask so I can dress as Buckethead to embarrasses him when we go as he's proper Guns n Roses/Slash fan. Ozzy fucking hell he's gone down hill. I saw him at Ozzfest at The O2 10ish years ago (that was a great line up with KoRn, Skindred, Murderdolls and a few others) and he was alright that night but he's too painful to watch now.
  3. You're gonna be so pissed when it's Def Leppard, Guns n Roses Buckethead reunion, Metallica playing St Anger in full for the 20th anniversary and last legs Ozzy! 😜 Although I do hope Ozzy gets better as he's hospital at the moment but christ he should have retired by now.
  4. Yeah, I'm not keen on seeing Deftones at a festival anymore as they are always abit meh on a mainstage but I'd happily see them at their own show. I really wanted to get tixs for their London show but my fucking sister wanted N-Dubz tixs that were on sale at the same time which took too much of focus away so I missed out. Also I forgot to add Prodigy earlier as another band that were bumped to headliner after they kept getting insane crowds at Download.
  5. Thats revisionists, the year before Slipknot headlined Download they were booked third down at R&L and on the same album. They didn't just suddenly become a bigger name during that time as they were a big name from the impact of their first album and a big crowd favourite.
  6. It has worked with Slipknot and A7X already though. People seem to forget that there were gatekeeping moans of they aren't headliners when they first headlined and that perception has only changed exactly because they did get the chance to headline and fucking smashed it. Queens is a different kettle of fish to Deftones. They played once and rather begrudgingly as part of a package deal to sub Download and then (co-)headline R&L the next year in Live Nation's attempt to kill off Sonisphere. Since then they have been booked to headline R&L again, played big gigs like Finsbury Park and The O2 which keep in mind is a big venue that Slipknot didn't play till 10ish years after first headlining Download.
  7. I like the idea but more so to stop twats from moaning this band isn't big enough to headline if they have already "headlined" before. So have Slipknot "headline" but with Ghost or whoever "co-headline" under them and then just have them straight up headline next time.
  8. So Download needs to book more pop acts in the hope Karen from HR and your Aunt Betty will want to go to Download too? 😜 The Rage day was the last to sell out at R&L and it's gonna be a load of shit to see them there.
  9. I don't know about that. There are lots boring people who shout down the suggestion of any sort of upcoming band becoming a headliner and would rather count the number of songs they know or look at ticket prices and just settle for that as "they are headliners already" or "I want my money's worth" rather than watching a band hitting their peak form to become a headliner at that very moment. In any case if a band is getting a bigger crowd than their spot suggests than bump them up a slot up next time so if a band is playing at the top end of the card and the only place to move upto is headline then perhaps they should just headline...
  10. Why are so many people talking about how Gojira, Bring Me, Queens, Ghost or Five Finger can’t headline when fucking Def Leppard have headliner 3 times in 10 years. The bar to headline Download isn’t very high despite people’s expectations that only mega bands can do it.
  11. Are you thinking of Bloodstock? The last time they played Hellfest it was on the 2nd stage. Twisted Sister were seen as a more worthy headliner than them. WTF
  12. Ah, I thought you meant the band would kick him out. There's always likely to be some musician willing to tour with him if need be for the money and/or the break into the industry It's possible and likely but I personally don't get why that would be such a big thing. It's mental to me some people think that would be bigger than AC/DC or Metallica. It's really just Slipknot headlining with some of the usual Download names under a different banner. I doubt Bring Me would sub for them in the UK as they aren't as big in other countries as they are here.
  13. Josh is the band isn't he? Even Nick Oliveri wasn't a founding member. You could form a supergroup from the amount of insanely talented people who have been fired/left the band. In any case at this point Queens should be a shout in for headlining rather than being a 2nd stage headliner.
  14. They aren't young enough, only bands with at least 40 years experience of being young are young enough to headline like Jethro Tull!
  15. It's only been 2 years, give them a chance to be broken up before the reunion for fuck sake. It's not happening any time soon if it ever will. King hasn't even got his new band officially going yet.
  16. But I've never seen a Bring Me patch on any denim cut off vest when I go to a gig. All the patches I see are W.A.S.P. and Lynyrd Skynyrd so they should headline!!! Slayer have retired so a Big 4 show is not possible anymore.
  17. He's talking about putting an act for the double denim dinosaurs who go to Donwload to see Saxon and KISS that view 90s music as young people's music still.
  18. Hellfest only bumped up Ghost and Gojira as last minute replacements for Faith No More and Avenged Sevenfold though. Whilst they have smashed it this year their line ups aren't normally that strong, this was their last fest line up. Download would be fucking laughed at for putting Manowar as a headliner.
  19. Meh, sounds like tacky Brexit bollcoks. The British stage for British people with your MC Nigel Farage.
  20. it might help you enjoy their setlists more if when Biffy release new music you actually listen to the song in full rather than just 15 secs and deciding you don't like it 😜
  21. Ozzy Osbourne - Kid Rock - Phil Anselmo - Stryper - Alestorm Def Leppard - Foreigner - Skid Row - Poison - Saxon Feeder - Smash Mouth - Metro Station - MxPx - Forever The Sickest Kids Nickelback - Creed - Puddle of Mudd - Crazy Town - Tokio Hotel
  22. I had pegged Halestorm to be taking a sub spot soon but their recent support slot on Alter Bridge's tour has got me thinking they will be more likely to stay around the 3rd down spot. I saw them a few months ago on their "evening with" smaller venue tour and they were fucking brilliant. In a year where I've seen a few bands notorious for good live shows like The Flaming Lips, Alice Cooper, Run The Jewels, Arcade Fire, Tool, Idles, Ghost, The Killers, Frank Carter etc they have been the best gig I've gone to so far this year.
  23. My money is on Bring Me, Metallia, Slipknot and Rage. If Bring Me can't headline when the fest is 4 days long then Download is fucked and will go the way of Monsters of Rock as irrelevant and outdated which needs dying off to let a better new hard rock fest takes it's place.
  24. It's because they want you to spunk an extra £200 on VIP chair tickets.
  25. To be honest the best and worst case scenarios doesn't look hugely better or worse than the other. 😜
