Doesn't Damon Albarn fit into most of those categories with his various incarnations?
I wonder which band does fit most categories?
-
Kasabian

The Stone Roses wont play that far down

I don't know how to do the YouTube link stuff here, but check out Mirrors, and the song A fear of Drowning. Great electronic music, and they opened the Oxlyers one night this year. Great stuff, they were all struggling after a big night out the night before but it sounded great. Not many there unfortunately, a bit too early in the day!

It's Norfolk, what do you expect!
-
Wanted to see them in Norwich in a coupe of weeks, tickets were due to go on sale tomorrow at 9am, but people started queueing up yesterday. By 10am this morning they had enough queuers to sell out so gave everyone who was in the queue a ticket to come back later and buy the ticket. Impressive to 'sell out' nearly a day before tickets go on sale. Fair to play to all, only 1500 capacity venue
They will be awesome in such a small venue. You lucky people. Not sure if I would preoared to queue up for over a day to see them though!

I saw Human League a couple of years ago - I went because John Foxx was the support, not because Human League were 'headlining'. I was surpirised how liitle they had changed, they got the crowd going. If you liked them in th 80s then you would still enjoy them now. If you didn't like them then then you would still not enjoy them now.

80s night would be my favourite, OMD, Visage, Numan, Soft Cell, human league, Ultravox, kraftwerk again,
It's not impossible, Numan played a festival this year and OMD played Latitude. Human league And John Foxx still doing the rounds, and really havent changed at all thank god. Awesome stuff. What a decade!
-
Was that really a 70s stage though - more of a stage of acts who happened to perfom iat the festival in 1971, so very early 70s - most people hadnt heard of any of the actrs.. A late 70s would be better. Then you could have Kraftwerk headlining, With Gary Numan under them, And Tubeway Army under him. Mike Oldfield under them. Back of the net!
-
I still think another 'other' stage could work, whether its secret sets or not. It would need some big bands on it, so not sure if there are anough bands around to fill it. Could be themed maybe, have a 70s night on friday, 80s ngiht on saturday, 90s night on Sunday. There must be a way I can get Kraftwerk and Gary Numan to play Glastonbury - it is my mission on life!

I dont see why increasing the capacity would dilute GLastos creativity, so long as they have a proportinarte increase in the number and size of different areas. They have increases capacity quite a bot over the last decade but it has worked for me because they have also added and developed new areas in proportion, such as the Park, Arcadia, Shangri La, etc.
Increasing the capacity could work if they found a way of moving people away from the areas which get crowded - The Pyramid Stage, Shangi La, Arcadia The Park stage. Another stage (say where they had the footie to the west of the Dance Village) could attract people away from the Pyramid and hopefullly reduce the overcrowding in the key areas at peak time. I like the idea of having a new stage and just put on unnannounced sets from say 6pm each night - I would get people away from the Pyramid but would need to be of sufficent size to avoid the Park overcrowding of recent years during the secret sets

I cant see that happening these days at Glasto, not least because it wouldn't be possible to leave Glasto if the mud got that bad! 2007 was a mud fest - it rained most of the weekend - but few people left early from memory. 2005 was pretty bad, but to be fair it dried out after the Friday deluge
-
I think nearly everyone who went to a festival this summer is going to be put off to some extent due to their experience of rain and mud this year!
(I got rained on at all of the 8 I went to this year ).

I think Latitude will survive for quite a while yet for a few reasons:
1. Its quite a local festival, in terms of it attracts a lot of people from Norfolk (like me!) and Suffolk whose nearest festival would be the wonderful Hylands Park in Chelmsorfd, whiich a lot of people aren't keen on. Its amazing how many 'locals' do go to this festival and still love it (being within a 50 mile radius)
2. It does not rely on its music line-up as much as other festival. I think the muisic part is almost scondary to the other aspects, especially the quaility of its comedy line-up. The literature tents, etc are also always really rammed
3. This years line up could be considered poor by some, (I actually thought it was pretty good) and still they managed to sell out this year, albeit it look longer than previous years
4. Its a very nice site and is very kids friendly so it attracts a lot of familes. Despite the reported issues of the last couple of years, it still 'feels safe'
5. More TV coverage of the festival giving it a higher profile
Saying that, I also wonder if some people will be put off next year's Latitude due to their first experience of mud this year!

Just think the tickets scramble would have been this weekend had there been a Glasto in 2012!
Means its only a year to ticket day!
I hink there will be a mass scramble for 2013 tickets, I am sure there was the last time there was a break (so tickets for 2007) People often have a break from the festival for a year, so everybody will want to go in 2013. Saying that, it does depend on what happens with music in the next year or so. If there isnt a lot of exciting new stuff coming out, or any realeases from big name bands then it might not be too bad after all

It will be one of these,
Airiwa Posse, Brilliant Corners, Forest Hillbillies, Frank Chickens, Fuzz Box, Maxi Priest, Happy End, Microdisney, Nightingales, Phranc,The June Brides, The Potatos , Robyn Hitchcock, The Go Betweens, Half Man Half Biscuit, Ted Chippington, Fuzzbox, Dream Syndicate, Billy Bragg, Ozric Tentacles, Sambatucada, Three Mustaphas Three, Woodentops, Zinica
Maxi Priest maybe?

Kasabian's other stage set on the 2005 was fantastic. They were confident not arragant, had great stage presence and a lot of energy. One of the highlights of the weekend. Oh, and they only had one album then, so they only played songs from their first and best album, which in my opinion was a great album

You can guarantee those 20000 will mostly be made up of half arsed teenyboppers excited by being away from mummy for the first time and impressing their friends on facebook by wearing one of those fucking flower crowns around their head.
Great
