  1. I think it is earlier than usual. I've never known it to be just a few days after End of the road festival (which is how I measure my years!)
  2. Can't disagree. They were in my top three must-see acts of the weekend & probably the only band I was disappointed in. Combination of poor setlist choice and technical issues I think.
  3. Yes, really good. Also saw their 'secret' set on the piano stage. Not much of a secret when you announce it in your main set, but still....
  4. As always a fantastic festival, with great weather, food, drink & the vast majority of people (more of which later). My top ten acts (in order, cos I'm anal like that!): 10. Hot Chip 9. Charlie Cunningham 8. Stereolab 7. Fortitude Valley 6. The Golden Dregs 5. Shirley Collins 4. Chubby & the Gang 3. Arab Strap 2. Darren Hayman 1. Katy J Pearson - the star of the festival for me. Both her main set & the late night tipi show. Also, met her wandering about & she was obviously loving the festival. Shout outs to: Bdrmm, Jonny Dillon, Pozi, Comet is coming, Sleaford mods & Black country new road who didn't quite make the list. Loads of stuff I loved that I knew little or nothing about but will be investigating further in the coming days & weeks. Only one moan: Gangs of c**ts at festivals. A group of 5 blokes camped near me who seemed to have zero interest in the music. They'd obviously got a ticket just to get smashed with 'the lads' (if they're wearing fancy dress, it's usually a clue). They were singing & chanting about raping & battering women. I shouted at them to shut the fuck up, but didn't feel brave enough to confront them directly. Please don't come back you fucking tossers - fuck off to a festival that suits you or, better still, fuck off and die!
  5. I'm on the train to Salisbury now. I have a whole carriage to myself! This is not usual. Less people coming by train this year?
  6. Surprisingly I slept quite well - normally I sleep terribly before a festival. See you all there. Have a great time everyone - let's have a party!!!! 🙂
  7. Bloody windy here this morning. 100 miles away, but still..... don't fancy putting my tent up in this!
  8. I've not seen live music (apart from buskers) since January 2020. I can't bloody wait! Would I have liked the set times in advance? Yes. Is it going to spoil my enjoyment? Absolutely 100% not!
  9. The last thing that went into my bag. I almost forgot. Then I couldn't find any of them! I've got about 6 - where the fuck have I put them? Eventually I found an old Irish Man Utd hat at the bottom of my washing basket. Normally I hate wearing football related stuff at festivals, but it's the only one I found, so it'll have to do.
  10. RIP the mad genius, Lee 'Scratch' Perry. The world just got a bit shitter! ☹️
  11. In previous years it's always been announced before, but I guess this isn't a normal year. Having said that, they must have printed the program by now, so surely they could announce them?
  12. I always thought those weirdos who went on about "lizard people" were off their heads - until I saw Michael Gove! 😄
  13. Good list. Fairly similar to mine. If you like Hot Chip, I see no reason why you won't like Teleman. Others I want to see are: Arab Strap, Darren Hayman, John, Chubby & the gang, Warmduscher, Shirley Collins, Penelope Isles & Katy J Pearson. With Stereolab, I've no idea why I haven't investigated further: the 2 songs I know (French Disco & Ping Pong) are both ace! I need to dig deeper before Thursday.
  14. Welcome to the party. Who are your must see acts at the moment? Just to give us an idea for similar recommendations?
  15. New series of Mortimer and Whitehouse gone fishing starts Sunday - excellent news!
  16. Yeah that was great fun. IIRC that was the year Eamon from Brakes got married. I remember one of them on stage shouting "has anyone seen Eamon? He's supposed to be getting married tomorrow and he's gone missing!" Then, when Brakes played on the Sunday night, he brought his new wife onstage to sing 'Jackson' - one of my favourite EOTR moments.
  17. FWIW, my favourite secret sets were from Brakes (at least a couple of times) - EOTR's house band for the first few years & always great fun. I still hold on to the hope that they will get back together & play EOTR again, but it seems unlikely as the years pass.
  18. I remember it well. Excellent! The old tipi was a pain in the arse though. If there were more than 100 people in there, you couldn't see a thing - always pillars blocking your view. Admittedly it looked great, but it wouldn't be able to cope with the numbers now.
  19. Reckon we might get the times either today or tomorrow?
  20. I've never felt the need to buy any of their records but I saw them at Glastonbury a few years ago & was surprised how much I enjoyed them. Like you say, they should be a perfect Friday night party - great fun!
  21. Compared to some of my Glastonbury experiences, it was like a sunny day in the Caribbean! 😄
  22. It's never been muddy, even in the rare wet years. A sturdy pair of waterproof boots/shoes should be fine.
  23. This is my thinking too. If they have replacements lined up, presumably they'll be on-site or close by. If there are no drop outs, maybe they'll ask them to do late night / secret sets instead? Like you say though, it's not going to be anyone high profile.
  24. Thanks for the tip. Will give them a listen tonight.
