  1. Anyone been in a van and know the answer to this? I emailed the info email address but no reply.
  2. It is coming to BD but will be a long way short of finished. We’ll have some of the electrical components including lights and fridge, and a working toilet, but the shower and kitchen won’t be running and it obviously won’t have finishing touches. After BD we have 3-4 days then off to Worthy Pastures, hence slogging my guts out atm! And all this on the back of very little sleep as baby-Blutarsky has decided she doesn’t need more than an hour or two on one go…!
  3. Thanks. Another good day today: - the benches have hinges seats on them and are properly supported with noggins. - noggins added to the bathroom studwork. - a cupboard/wardrobe built on the end of the bathroom. - constructed the footprint of the kitchen worktop. - fuse box arrived so we can have a working power supply. - Fiamma vent extension kit arrived so I can finish connecting it and we can have electrical ventilation.
  4. @crazyfool1 My concession still stands, but I did notch my first kill this morning. The gap has closed slightly. How many are you on?

  6. Will it have started by now? Anyone local and driven by? If so, got any pics?
  7. More progress today. Battery connected up to solar and I was able to charge my phone in the van! Also built bench seats (not quite finished - some temporary spacers in place in the photo) and wired up our fridge (65L Chinese knock off of a Waeco). A lot of faff with the benches as I initially built them too deep and too high, until my aunt, who’d popped by for a cuppa, suggested measuring a dining chair and copying the measurements. So basically I built them twice.
  8. Does anyone know whether camper vans with an electric provided pitch need to take a cable to connect up or is it a pull out type job?

  12. I would have thought so. I’m not feeling overly hopeful if I’m honest.

  14. They did arrive on Saturday, and all in one envelope, none of the Glasto bollocks of campervan/car park ticket one day and actual tickets days later.
  15. Anyone still able to find the sandwiches in co-op? My local appears to have stopped doing them.
  16. Something like this? They are so cool. Would you rather have one that had the living space contained within the vehicle for security though?

Managed to watch about 50 minutes of it while Baby-Blutarsky was napping this afternoon. Will I be able to watch the rest tomorrow or is it gone now?
  18. Some of you will know I became a dad last year, and am now just 4 weeks away from taking our now 10-month-old mini-Blutarsky to her first festival, which will be Beautiful Days. As a result I’m seeking your advice on how best to go about taking little ones to festivals and maximise everyone in the family’s enjoyment. For example, Mini-B’s bedtime is 6-7pm so how do Mrs B and I get to see any headliners? (We didn’t hit on the idea of inviting our parents so they can babysit until after tickets sold out). We have a trolley that I’m turning into a mobile bed, but how’s it best to utilise this? Your top tips for getting babies to sleep in a campervan? Recommendations for infant ear defenders? I want to hear it all! One piece of advice I did get was from Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe’s Parenting Hell podcast, when Doc Brown recommended going with parent friends so you can take it in turns to have a night with the kids and a night on the lash. Good advice or no? I had a good search and couldn’t find a thread devoted to this.
  19. I have always been a sucker for brass - any band with a horn section is a hit with me. I got into ska when I was a teenager attending anti-capitalist and anti-Iraq war rallies circa 2001-2003 and came across Capdown, who I loved. There was a whole stable of third wave ska punk bands on Household Name Records / Good Clean Fun / Fierce Panda and others at the time and a thriving UK scene which I saw a lot of at the Cavern in Exeter. This led me into listening to first wave ska (Desmond Dekker, Skatalites, Lord Tanamo etc) and 2-tone from the 80s (Madness, Specials, Selecter, beat etc) and also to American 3rd wave like Mad Caddies, Catch 22 (who I went and saw on my own at Universal Studios in 2004 when I was on holiday with my family, aged 16) Streetlight Manifesto, The Pietasters, Slackers (who I saw in Berlin a few years ago)and (to a lesser extent) Less Than Jake and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Long story short I realised I love more or less any music with horns - as songs like Destination Calabria by Alex Gaudino really hit home despite being outside of my musical wheelhouse at the time it was released. More recently the likes of Badcore Horns and the Brass Funkeys have really tickled my fancy. Anyway, what are your top recommendations for songs with brass in them? I bet someone will say Baker Street on the first page.
  20. So, Mrs Blutarsky and I are pulling the trigger on a van in the very near future and I thought it might be a good idea to draw on the wisdom of the eFests hive mind to help us do so. I thought it would be a nice thread to have for all the van owners to share their set ups and how it works for them at Glasto and elsewhere. Apologies if it’s not appropriate Neil @eFestivals. Mrs B and I are now a trio with Mini-Blutarsky so decided it’s the right time to get one, to make Glastonbury a little more comfortable with a little one in tow. It’s also a lifestyle decision, as we live near the coast and would get good use out of a camper throughout the winter and even on weekday evenings. We’re fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the country. I’m also a teacher so we’re eyeing up six weeks of cruising Europe each summer. We’re settled on buying a panel van and converting it ourselves so we can configure it to our needs. Ideally we’re looking for a Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter or Fiat Ducato (which I know is the same as a Peugeot Boxer or Citroen Relay but Mrs B is prejudiced against French vehicles because she owned a crap 206 once). We want a LWB (want extra room as we want a shower for freedom camping), high roof (I can’t face having to stoop), low-mileage, good nick van. And the moon on a stick. With the market as it is at the moment we’re finding it a bit difficult. Frustratingly we had a Sprinter lined up through a friend of a friend who runs a greengrocers with a fleet of 12, but he’s had to keep it in service due to lockdown. We’ve got an eye on a few which are up for auction this evening, so hopefully we’ll have some success. I guess what I wanted to ask is whether there’s anything in particular we should look out for, ask about or know before buying? It’d also be great to hear what vans people have, how you’ve got them set up and any pearls of wisdom when it comes to converting.
