  1. I feel like I'm the only person who looked at this lineup and thought it was really good from first blush? I know everyone hating on it is part of the cycle but it seems very pronounced this year. Maybe I'm just easily pleased but I'm jazzed about acts from top to bottom of this, and looking forward to more names being added.
  2. This would surely fly in the face of the local authority's recommendation that the festival addresses the Glade crossroads choke point. Section 3.1 here: https://democracy.somerset.gov.uk/documents/s18977/Glastonbury%20Festival%20Council%20De-brief%20Report%202023-%20Appendix%202%20-%20Officer%20Recommendations%20for%202024.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiMnYOu3_WEAxWdX0EAHcMrCekQFnoECBEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3juq_t2aN0H7ov8LQBN8JQ Which probably means more acts playing on the Thursday to thin things out in this case, or more significant changes to the Glade area, right?

Wish I'd done Lianne La Havas on Sunday instead of Nightmares on Wax at WH after that set got shortened... but think Lianne would've been better anyway tbh.

100% agree. I think this will go down as one of those legendary Glasto sets where people who weren't actually there say that they were 🙃
  5. I think WH just had sound issues and false starts throughout the weekend, probably just an elusive loose cable!
  6. D'Angelo Silk Sonic Orbital Tyler, the Creator Solange Tame Impala Elton SZA Frank Ocean Blood Orange
  7. Kendrick Simz Roisin Strongest set of headline performances I've seen at any festival.

Leagues ahead of any other performance all weekend for me, and watching it back just reconfirms it. So pleased it delivered. Best crowd I was in too.
  9. I don't think anyone outright disappointed me, but some stuff that comes to mind... - TLC were what I expected. Fun sing-along but couldn't recommend them. - Yves Tumor mid-afternoon on West Holts was just a weird place for him. Couldn't get into it. - Nightmares on Wax must have had some pre-set issues they were sorting so they only did a few songs. Ended as soon as it seemed to get going. Saw him DJ at San Remo later though and that was great fun
  10. Oh no, really!? I'm sorry that was your experience. From where we were the goodwill for her in the crowd was palpable and we thought she put on a show that completely lived up to the slot. Glad you found fun elsewhere though, better than trying to force yourself to love it.
  11. Yeah totally true. Both problems exacerbating the other, probably. Didn't mean to appear dismissive and hopefully all food for thought ahead of next year x
  12. Respectfully, I honestly think the biggest contributing factor - and the simplest one - is numbers. Totally understand what you mean about people wanting to soak it all up after COVID, but I don't recall it ever being like this after a fallow year before... and remember, over a million people try to get tickets for this thing every year, so there's always loads of new people looking for their "firsts". I still feel like I saw the same level of people sleeping in until the afternoon or dossing around the campsite too - but I'm a case study of one, so obviously can't speak for everyone. Some stuff can absolutely be behavioural and reflective of changing trends / demographics, I agree. But the most common denominator for all the issues mentioned here is numbers. I don't necessarily expect extra degrees of control as you've mentioned, but just the sheer volume of people this time seems to have overwhelmed all the processes / safeguards or whatever.
  13. As someone who's just had my eighth Glasto, and wasn't in any of the really bad "crushes" (other than maybe TLC) this one was just busier. Everywhere, all the time, for everything, for reasons that I personally can't just attribute to some bad scheduling. I'm not intimidated by big crowds, I'm not in a rush to get places, I know how to pre-empt a busy space, choose a quieter route or just be patient, but this year was so obviously overpopulated and multiple people on-site were noticing it. I've never had to put so much time aside to get food, use a urinal (!!) or just move between stages before. Places like the West Holts field which are normally pleasantly buzzing in past years just felt stacked ALL of the time. I spotted stewards / security staff looking really exasperated trying to manage that many people, and some were taking photos in particularly bad moments to presumably show how bad it was. I asked a couple of staff/ traders if it was just us imagining it and we got the same response each time: "I've never known it to be like this before". Now either they've oversold and there was a marked increase in the number of people on-site, or they've closed off / removed enough areas that a comparable number of people to past years are just milling around a notably smaller site. Either way, that's a capacity-to-space issue. It didn't stop me having a blast, but it did mean I decided against certain acts, went for food I didn't particularly want, spent about an hour queuing to get back in after nipping to the car, and spent longer in toilet queues than ever before. Or maybe I'm the problem 😅
  14. Are you feeling a bit cantankerous after a long weekend and just deliberately misinterpreting me? Why would I defend that? I'm talking about some of the posts here looking down on (generally younger) crowds who want to see more popular acts and maybe aren't that interested in aligning their chakras at the healing fields yet. Didn't think I'd need to spell it out but here we are.
  15. Nope. But sneering at people because they're just not enjoying the festival in the way you think is "correct" definitely is.
