  1. Anyone else think there might have been more on Twickets by now? I heard an alert set up hoping for tickets to Finsbury Park but not yet got anything through.
  2. Feel like that was a rumour I heard on an Arctic Monkeys fan page for their set. Which would make sense given The Car was essentially an orchestral album, much as I doubt it'll lead to them playing it top-to-bottom.
  3. Given U2 just announced an additional seven concerts as part of this Las Vegas run to go with the five already announced, the demand is clearly there. Maybe the nature of the beast is that even though these prices are insane, people are still willing to fork out for them.
  4. I was going to say that it would be a fuck of a lot, and then I saw the most recent post... Yikes. Shame. I think Achtung Baby is U2's best album and would've been more up for a tour of that than Joshua Tree, not least if it also brings some of the show they had on Zoo TV, but at those prices, the fact Las Vegas is a long way to go and the controversy about hiring a fill-in on drums, perhaps not.
  5. There's talk that this season's Champions League final may get moved at the 11th hour as it's planned Istanbul location could be considered vulnerable if there is a heavy-going fallout from the upcoming Turkish elections. Maybe it's now the done thing for major international events getting moved at the last minute.
  6. I was away over the weekend so didn't see the Newcastle v Spurs game live but it was genuinely something for a friend checking a live score app and seemingly every time we looked Newcastle had another goal. That opening 20 minutes or so is crazy - think Man City did that to Watford in 2019 and that is the only other time a 5-0 lead has been run up that quickly in the PL era. It's kinda crazy, and the fact Spurs have immediately fired Stellini for presiding over that hints that they have pretty much broken down.
  7. This is the Arctic Monkeys tribute act Self-Esteem played with a few weeks back right? Main one I knew of is the longer running Antarctic Monkeys, who I even saw at a small venue in Milton Keynes 4 years ago (and thought were good tbf).
  8. Tbf I imagine in the moment there were good things. Maybe it's a momentum thing, or maybe people just too readily wanted to compare it to Blur last year, or maybe Plastic Beach's songs didn't have the mainstream pull Demon Days had. Either way, it is what it is, and clearly, they're still a decent pull. Makes me kinda wish I'd gone to APE last year.
  9. I think that's just the nature of the beast about us judging another area's favourites. Clearly, if he's doing stadiums in the USA and Mexico, he's absolutely big enough to do Coachella. As his last UK date was in 2018 at the sub-3k Kentish Town Forum, logically, it's not quite as big a deal on these shores. Maybe he'll announce a UK date in a bigger venue and pull in a crowd, but it's not quite the same as clearly enough of a US crowd like his work to see it. It's certainly a comparison for me, who only knows of him for being in the movie Bullet Train and a one-line joke on John Oliver's show talking about Ticketmaster last year.
  10. That's as much a sound mixing issue tbf. I've seen coverage of bands at festivals where sometimes the crowd mix is overpowering and sometimes non-existent, and clearly, that's just a mix that's got no interest in crowd reaction.
  11. Yeah. At the end of a day, after last season's trainwreck at Old Trafford, top 4 and a trophy or two would still be excellent progress, though I think the increased amount of injuries is reducing the probability of a 2001 Liverpool-style EL-FAC-LC treble. But it is starting to get in an uncomfortable place, with a lot of injuries at the same time. It does make todays game at Forest interesting given the patchwork nature up against a Forest side out of form and who still don't really seem to know a best eleven out of their 230 signings. But it does sound I think for both Uniteds that its just trying to get it over the line in imperfect circumstances.
  12. Tbf I think Gerrard's achievements at Rangers were decent but I felt that made him more qualified for a Championship role than a Premier League one. Even then, however, Emery's work has been outstanding. I felt a good season at the point when they switched was midtable, yet they are a genuine challenger for Europe and might even still be a stronger name in top 4 contention if we still had 10+ games to go. Wolves with Lopetegui also look better, if perhaps a bit more inconsistent (and punished by referees if some of his more conspiratorial comments are to be believed). Does all make next season quite interesting as well to see if these two tribes can make it work.
  13. I thought they'd stopped making glue from such substances? Even if it makes me think of a gag in The Simpsons where they get a racehorse and Homer goes "If he loses this race, we're going to the glue factory and the horse can't come!"
  14. Agreed. When they sacked Gerrard, Villa were 17th and looked like a squad set to be in the relegation battle, yet their form since January has been phenomenal. They suddenly look like a very good bet for a top six finish, and indeed, might have been in for a top 4 spot if the season was carrying on for more than 7 more games imo. As it is, I think it's between Newcastle, Man U and Spurs for 3rd/4th. This was a golden chance for Spurs ahead of their trip to SJP next weekend and they blew it. If we assert ourselves properly, or at least have a similar performance to when we beat Spurs at their enormodome in October, it should fall our way. And that's even with a few players looking like the season is starting to catch up with them.
  15. Announced last week... Can't lie, didn't know Jess Glynne and the Black Eyed Peas were still going. Though MotoGP at Silverstone has more things to my tastes, by which I mean it has Kaiser Chiefs and I'd go see them live instead.
  16. They were superb at Lollapalooza Paris 2018 as well. I'd say Glastonbury 2010 was what it was, but that in general, they now seem to have a reputation as a more consistent act. Can imagine that show at London O2 that reopened it after lockdown was pretty dope.
  17. Genuinely didn't know this was on until a social media post I saw on Wednesday... maybe it's me not being in the right bubble but makes it feel oddly low-key compared to days of yore.
  18. That top four fight is a strange one, as all of ourselves, Man U and Spurs looked capable of dropping a bollock now and then. Villa and Brighton might well not be out of it just yet. That game against Sevilla on Thursday as weird. Looked like Man Utd had it sewn up against a Sevilla team who have had a hard fall backwards in a y ear, and then suddenly in the final stages it all went wrong.
  19. Hmmm... called that it would be a tough one. I didn't call it as 3-0 defeat tough. I know we can't win them all, but still. Less than ideal. Makes Spurs at home next Sunday somehow an even bigger game than it was beforehand, and it was already huge.
  20. Indeed. Villa's form has been quite remarkable, and I'm not expecting it to be like when we beat them 4-0 at St James' Park in their last game before Emery's arrival when they folded like a flimsy house of cards.
  21. Mane might well be back on the market at this rate given Bayern don't seem that impressed by him even before reports he's been suspended for a fight in the dressing room after their demolition by Man City in the Champions League on Tuesday.
  22. Well we can't fuck up any worse than in 2003/04 when we were knocked out of the Champions League in the play-offs by Partizan Belgrade. Not least given the English qualifiers for the Champions League go directly into the group stage now.
  23. One of those things imo. I won't feel comfortable that Newcastle are definitely gonna be in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years until it's signed, sealed and delivered. And even then, it may well be the first game in the group stage where I feel comfortable acknowledging it's happening for real.
  24. Either I've become really old or have been living under a rock but I don't think I recognise any name on that list.
  25. Spurs still have to play both Newcastle and Man United, so in theory it could still see them claw their way back into this fight. Even if they seemed lucky to beat Brighton judging by the Seagulls getting yet another PGMOL apology for decisions going against them.
