  1. I had to buy two 2-man tents onsite last year after I found my tent was missing poles. It was a stand in the marketplace area, they had second hand and new tents. The ones I got aren't top of the range but they're double skinned and certainly did the job. I'm bringing them again this year. The only thing is they cost £75 each, when in a shop/online they'd be more like £40, but it's certainly a fairly hassle free option.
  2. Reading all the ticket horror stories I'm extremely pleased to be going by coach, with nothing but a working phone and the email required. From personal experience: - Don't lug a heavy tent you last used at another festival all the way across the site in 30+ degree heat, only to find it has poles missing and you have to go and spend ££££ on new tents for you and your mate in the marketplace - Don't buy food there's even the remotest chance your stomach isn't going to agree with. I chanced an egg roll on the Thursday morning last year and spent the next 4 hours throwing it up into a bin bag. I don't react well to undercooked eggs so this was a risk too far for me -Pack light but make sure you have enough warm layers for nighttime -Don't get overexcited at the hotel with your mates the night before (if you're doing that) and have to do the journey/tent set up with a hangover the following morning. Happened to me last year and has a very real possibility of happening again this year if I don't rein it in
  3. No, it was the bar nearest to the Pier, that side of Park
  4. The married straight couple who my mate and I got chatting to near the pier last year, and ended up having a few drinks with in the bar. It became fairly clear they were looking for a couple to swing with and were disappointed to find we weren't a couple and my mate is gay. Lovely people though!
  5. Whatever looks edible from nearby breakfast van. Made the mistake of buying an egg roll on the Thursday morning last year and spent the rest of the morning and lunchtime chucking it up (I seem to react badly to undercooked egg) so gotta be extra careful this year. Medical Tent people are AMAZING btw.
  6. Started panicking that my chairs and new sleep mat are far too big to carry in, which they blatantly are. Bought a new lightweight chair that packs down really small and now considering the same for a sleep mat. My old one was tiny but stupidly thin and uncomfortable.
  7. I'm so excited about QOTSA looking even more likely, I may explode
  8. Been bingeing 2022 vlogs at the weekend and loved a lot of the ones recommended here. Check this incredible 360 view, which you can pan yourself - really made me feel like I was there! https://youtu.be/7SLSHTh-l7s
  9. Yesterday: booked train to Bristol (where we're getting the coach from) and updated my Glasto Packing List. Also watched a load of videos of people walking around the festival 😭
  10. I paid a visit to the medical tent on the Thursday last year after an extremely violent reaction to an undercooked breakfast egg roll 🤮 They were brilliant. Left feeling reassured and with anti nausea and rehydration medication. Will be steering clear of eggs at Glasto in future and recently donated.
  11. Usually it's racing across the site from the coach park to bag one of the last remaining spots on Big Ground, throwing up the tent and sitting down with a drink. This year it'll be sitting at the cider bar waiting for Love Fields to open!
  12. Usually it's an early Weds am coach from London, arriving at lunchtime and me running around Big Ground like a blue arsed fly looking for a pitch (always manage it but it's stressful). This year we're in Love Fields, first time we've glamped. Staying in Bristol on the Tuesday night and getting a 7am coach the next morning. We planned that before we decided to do Love Fields - for the first time we're actually going to be there in the morning but it's utterly pointless because LV doesn't open until midday! I am really looking forward to not having to run across the site to make sure we get a pitch though. And showers and nice bogs.
  13. I turned up this year to find my tent was missing some of its poles, making it utterly useless. We were stood on our pitch effectively homeless in the 35 degree heat - fun! Thank God for the camping shop. Yes, they gouged me (£150 for 2 2-man tents) but the tents were brand new and worked fine. We'd have been so screwed without them! And yes, I have learned my lesson about checking my tent before heading off next year 😄
  14. Depending on the pitch size you needed, you might have got into Big Ground. We found a decent sized space for 2 2-man tents early afternoon on the Weds, and there were others. Not so much for huge groups though, granted!
  15. £1750 for 5 people in pitch your own at Love Fields (£350 each). We paid £310 each because we got a £200 for not using the car passes (coach tickets). Don't know what the equivalent is for WV but that location doesn't work for me so I didn't even look at it. Other option was 8 man tent in Tangerine Fields for £1350 (£270 each) but location isn't as good there either.
  16. I've camped halfway up Big Ground for my last 3 Glastos and I love it - 5 mins walk from Pyramid and West Holts, lovely views, good facilities. Impossible to get a decent sized pitch there unless you queue overnight Tuesday though. We usually arrive by coach so by the time we get there (Weds early arvo) we're scouting for gaps big enough for 2 small tents, which we always manage. Decent amount of loos, water taps and food vans, and right next to the medical tent (which was handy this year when I had a violent allergic reaction to something I ate). Giving Love Fields a go this year for the nicer loos/shower situation but will miss BG!
  17. Fair enough - everyone wants something different, after all. I'd have loved proper beds but those options were out of our group's budget range sadly
  18. For similar money in a frankly horrendous location miles away from anything! Looked at that (and all the other options) and location swung it for Love Fields. We're not driving so none of the "park your car bear your tent" stuff means anything to us, we're gonna have a hike from the coach park wherever we camp.
  19. Fully prepared to have the piss ripped but 4 friends and I have just paid for 2 'pitch your own' spots in Love Fields / Glastonbury Docks. I've been and camped in general camping 4 times previously, and while I agree £750 for 2 people sounds like a lot, it's the cheapest way to get access to decent loos and showers in a brilliant location unless you're a VIP - and I am a little bit over dealing with the long drops at 7am when I'm hungover. We get a 6x12m pitch for our 4 small tents which is acres of room compared to the stress of scouting for a spot to squeeze into (we go by coach so all the drivers are already camped by the time we get there). We'll get to saunter up at midday on Wednesday, spread out nicely, put up a gazebo (have never done this in general camping as it's not allowed) and enjoy the facilities, bar and views, for the sum of £62 a night each (we got a £100 discount per pitch because we won't be using car parking passes). Well worth it for the comfort and removal of the stress of pitch hunting IMO. Would be interested in hearing from anyone who's done this before btw!
