  1. I have big doubts its dua. She is headlining everywhere she is going this year, has effectively sold out 2 nights at the O2... Reckon she is way more likely to just hold off and headline next year/year after with the new album. Have no doubt she'll be there as a punter and will turn up for a guest slot or two, but I can't see her booking that slot in again. No idea who will replace her mind - guess that might be a good place to stick Lorde?
  2. Do we? I feel like other headline is still all to play for. PSB's seem pretty locked in but they'd be the only one I am confident on. QOTSA's slot has got be called into question given the recent allegations, and Dua's star power has grown immensely since she was last booked for that stage (and I think we can all agree it is unlikely for Norman to be back headlining either).
  3. Only ever heard Glaswegians say they like Gerry Cinnamon tbf...
  4. Whoever recommended the Orla Gartland album, thanks! Only just got around to checking it out and it's pretty great. Would have easily been in the top of August for me
  5. Didn't Disclosure used to do a festival on a runway in Brighton somewhere?...
  6. Is there any reason not to post the lineup sooner than later? Seems like most acts have been organising tours a lot earlier than normal lately (due to less availability in gig venues) and also to secure a steady income from festival slots. They could really mix things up with a pre-xmas poster with a couple new people + confirming the acts returning from 2020...
  7. I mean, sure, but the festival I imagine still want to be on good terms with the local residents, after all the Eavis' still live there the rest of the year. They do still put up with a lot what with the build, event and disassembly. It doesnt take much effort from the festivals part to swap Macca and Kendrick after all, assuming they are both available on those other days.
  8. I think as soon as she started putting out rerecordings it seemed quite likely she would probably wait till after she was done with all of those to be done and out before topping the pointy one

Fuck sake What with this and doxxing that postmates delivery driver...
  10. TBH I'm just more happy about that sweet branding they have released - imagine the fake poster I can make out of that... 😄
  11. I'm very happy with that set tbh - would have a great time at all of them but equally none of them are must sees for me. Gives me a decent chance to explore a lot of the other stages at headliner time but still have a backup if nothing is to my tastes
  12. 1 - Little Simz 2 - Sleigh Bells 3 - DJ Seinfeld
  13. Just to reiterate my point, I'm not sure what else you would want Billie to be doing to prove that she has a shot at being a good headliner. She has critical and commercial success, won awards, plenty of decent live performances (bar one disappointing set at Glasto)....
  14. You just aren't listening to what I said. I'm not saying if you dont like Billie then you hate women, clearly that is an insane take. However, the people in this thread saying that she will have a small crowd be cause only teen girls are into her are damaging with their comments. Realistically, she could quite easily fuck it up, but there is no reason to be any more cynical than any other act But I think you've proven my point with what you have said too. No one was claiming Radiohead were a poor choice of headliner when they were announced even though they have similar headliner issues to Billie. I think I disagree on Billie's backcatalogue - She has had a lot more mainstream radio success than Stormzy or Radiohead have had, think there is comfortably a setlist there full of stuff people would love. She has a comfortable mix of more lowkey numbers and ragers to keep the party going - lowkey numbers aren't always a problem, Adele went down well and people were clamouring for Taylor to come back after folklore. And on your last comment, I agree. Every act that is booked has this issue - but for some reason people are seemingly a lot more negative to Billie's chances than to most other peoples. You're right tbh, maybe I am a bit misguided and people just really dont like newer acts without 10+ years of pedigree with live performances. But I do standby my point that stereotyping her fans are teen girls is pretty stinky.
  15. It's more the fact that every time Billie comes up, the same concerns of 'oh only children listen to her', 'her crowd will be tiny because none of her stans can get tickets', 'people will get bored because she will probably just be lipsyncing' etc. If we were talking about The Weeknd or another male act, I don't think people would be having the same concerns. Regarding your other points, I think @Matt42has been spamming another videos of live shows to tell you that her Glasto performance was a bit of a fluke and usually she goes down pretty well. Her last album may not be full of massive hits like her previous, but that doesn't really get held against other acts in the same way. The album still did incredibly well commercially and critically. Most of the general public would recognise tracks like Therefore I Am & the title track. That's without even considering stuff like Everything I Wanted & No Time To Die which were released since she last played. Don't get me wrong, I'm not convinced she is going to smash it. Stuff like the lack of a live band and the fact that it is just sandwiched in the middle of a tour give me doubts. I'm just bored of the same discourse every time a female popstar is bought up as a headliner. I thought we had all gotten over the 'pop music is for little girls' stereotype
  16. Feel like the misogyny in this thread is overwhelming. God forbid that a young woamn could be headling and her legion of child stans won't have tickets to fill out her crowd. Its impossible that casual music fans might turn up and see her like they do for every other act. Didn't see the same level of fear that the field would be full of dads wearing eyeliner when they were dusting the cobwebs off Bob Smith for 2019....
  17. She doesnt follow Muse either
  18. Again, not sure if Emily liking posts is watertight enough to claim that Billie being booked is an open secret... Of course she is going to like posts from the people she follows, she has probably liked stuff from Dua Lipa and Coldplay recently too but I doubt that is going to be our combo of 3 headliners. I know she also liked Jessie Ware's post the other day too, but tbh if thats what it takes to get What Your Pleasure on to the pointy one, I'll take it!

Of course he could play, but I dont think he's necessarily that high up on the list. As you say, he already had a pretty big set last festival and he has plenty of alternatives that he could do instead. I was going to say that his last album didnt exactly set the world on fire like his first one did - but actually it seems to have done pretty well on the charts and also did better than his first critically too....

Yeah, or Dave isnt playing. Could easily just be coheadlining R&L or doing Wireless or even something like Boardmasters instead...
  21. Is Billie that much of an open secret? Other than the dates gap, Neil's rumour and Michael asking about her on the farm I dont think there is much else at the moment is there? Don't get me wrong, I think it's very likely, but nowhere near an open secret on the level of Di Roz or when Macca forced the fest to announce him for 2020....
  22. Oh, I only saw positive feedback on Twitter about it 😅...
  23. They did something like this at Printworks a couple weeks ago - didn't announce the lineup in advance you just had to turn up and see who was playing on the night

    First Gig Back

Had Low Island at Moth Club on Friday - had gone to see them at G2019 bvut they had tech issues so was good to see them on top form. Cracking venue too. Then had Declan McKenna on Saturday at Brixton and reckon I was the oldest one there. Might be a weird complaint but I wish he would play the guitar less? On the tracks where he was just singing he was great and charismatic, but as soon as he picked up a guitar he had to focus and all the energy was lost. Side note as well - the kids really do love PinkPantheress don't they - got a pretty huge singalong during the gap after alfie fucked off (and surprisingly so did American Boy)
  25. Eh, I dunno - feels a lot like a Post Malone album to me. Dabbling in lots of different styles and getting a few hits but also a fair few misses. Nothing particularly exciting or innovative, but pretty fun while it's on
