    Hello BlueDaze,

Thank you for that which I will, naturally, take as a compliment. 😊

However, I was insured for my art and craft works one year. It was a case of necessity, as it was a demand of The Landed Festival, where I was trading at.*

    http://www.landedfestival.co.uk/

it was liability insurance or some such, that cost me around £60.**

    * - Landed is a lovely festival. I have been a number of times, but never had to pay full whack. Full whack does seem to be steep to me looking at it now, but the way things are with inflation, is it really, I wonder?

** - I ended up getting annihilated at that festival from the 'get go'. That, in turn, resulted in me giving away all my art and craft products. I only took one £10 note from a bloke who simply would not take 'It's free' for an answer.

So, strangely enough, I managed to make a significant loss on trading at that festival. Not only did I lose out spending an unnecessary £60 on insurance, but gave away art / craft objects, some of which cost me easily £30 each to make in the first place, let alone all my input time.

Now, that might sound like I am annoyed. I wasn't annoyed then, and am still in that state. I realise that I got much more from giving away, than I did from selling.***

*** - Maybe that does make me some sort of capitalist, after all.

art for the masses... you are a visionary (even if your vision was a bit wonky)

  2. I think it has been suggested before... that it may well be worth taking the trolley in on your first visit but then dropping it off at an appropriate lock-up each night before heading back to B&W.  Repeat each day until the last night, then bring it back on the shuttle.. ?

The Liam rumour is such a weird one. No chance in my opinion. Noel has more of a friendship with Jarvis/pulp than Liam does for starters plus their audience (Liam/oasis fans) are not the same as Pulp fans. Whole different calibre of fans here. It just wouldn’t work.

Thanks for all of the really helpful replies so far! Just wanted to answer a few of the questions that have popped up 😊

We're coming over from Sweden and hiring a van which we get on Monday, hence the need for somewhere to pitch on the Monday evening. We'd much rather be able to pitch somewhere where we can access electricity, showers etc and a pub close by is always desired for some 'we're nearly entering the magical fields and i'm super excited' kinda vibes 😆 - we're camping in East quiet and the early entry is preferable to get a good spot that isn't a huge walk to get into the festival site each day.

We'd already enquired about the Cross Keys but that one is fully booked as you expected! I've contacted Brooke House so fingers crossed. Do you know of any other spots @StoneCircle ? And thanks for the image showing the order of filling the CV fields, super useful. Any chance you know what time they let people in on the Tuesday? I believe the 'official' time is 12pm but I've heard of people getting in earlier...

Thanks again all, really appreciate the replies!

I cannot help with the local sites I'm afraid... but understand that it is a necessity as you 'need' somewhere to stay on Monday...

You are correct that the official opening time is 12:00 and yes they do tend to let people in from quite early in the morning (although it isnt a given).. You could keep an eye on twitter or here for news on that but tbh if you are in East Quiet there is no long walk to Gate C (It is the far reaches of 'General' (E15/16/17) that can be the longer treks.. Getting there for midday will get you in E19/E24 at worst.

You will be entering the festival via Pylle Lane, which on the A37 to the east of the site.. so just bear that in mind when you book somewhere... If you are coming from London you will likely be on the A303 (past Stonehenge) on your way to the farm...

Have a great trip and enjoy the festival!

  5. The comfort of my own bed for me...! then an early set off from Cambridgeshire on Tuesday..

But I suppose it depends on a number of things :

How far do you have to come?

Which CV ticket do you have (East quiet / East General / Bath & West)

Do you have somewhere in mind where you want to camp (Is that the reason for staying local? i.e. get in early as possible for a decent spot?)

@StoneCircle posted the order in which they fill the CV East fields in a similar question a few months ago.. (she is a great source of helpful info) But, in my view there is point in stressing about where you will be parked.. it is what it is.

One other thing to consider, is that you will be camping off-grid for 6 (or 7) days.. What facilities do you plan on using during your stay? (Lights, Hot Water, Fridge etc..??) and what do you need to ensure you have enough battery / gas / water etc..

Enjoy your first stay in the CV Fields.!

Haven’t been to Glastonbury in about 20 years and the site is a bit different since last time I went! Also I’m a bit different in my ability to stay awake for 5 days straight too 🤪

where would you recommend trying to camp bearing in mind we will be arriving late afternoon on Wednesday?

looking for something quietish with a bit of room still 😊

Fair play to you for returning after 20 years... By jingo you will see some differences!

No camping advice i'm afraid (I prefer the comfort of the CV Fields)..  but head for the Avalon Inn for a nice sit down and a half decent pint when you are done with the walking!

    Have a great return..

I was stewarding in that field for half a shift. Got a LOT of grief over the lack of facilities from people. Agreed with them but wasn't much I could do about it.

To their credit, BT usually learn from mistakes/challenges and improve.. So would hope this to be the case next week.

Bit unfair to have a pop at a steward tbh... hardly their fault.

Oaklands is available and is larger than it's ever been.

And yes there was a 3rd Live in Field put there late last year, there always is a contingency area for both vehicles and tents, it's in the plans.

Ah.. Good news. Thanks.. I plan on getting there for 09:30-10:00 so will hopefully get into either Trent or Oaklands.

Are you suggesting that you just want to walk up to strangers and say "hey, want to go back to my tent and hook up?".  Please don't do that.

Poor jamessamuel the 1 time posting troll...

"I've been a few times before but never really thought about that kinda thing (was taken at the time)."

I assume he means by aliens.. and sadly they bought him back..

Oh.. and I was another that thought he was talking about get power in the CV fields btw

One Question on the bottom 'Areas' map... Is Oaklands available for Campervans/Caravans this year.??

I am not sure if it was available or not last year but Vans were also parked on the other side of Catton Hall nearer to the festival than regular car parking... There were a LOT of vans there (certainly well in excess of 250..) and the facilities were lacking.

Actually it might have been called cocktail bar, i remember it sold carling, urgh!

so is the killing moon a new bar? just for Echo and The Bunnymen..

The Cocktail Bar is the other side of the path (as shown on the map in the corner of the new Earth Area) and Killing Moong (didnt know the name) was indeed the 'straw bale' regular bar..

lol what a load of nonsense 🙄

Weather still holding up here and ground is good...

Have a photo of some bees 🐝

    PXL_20230518_051635388.jpg

They look a bit too big to be honey bees.. and that would probably be several hives worth… did they have to get someone to gather them or did they just disperse.?

    Hi All!

First time poster and festival attendee so excitment levels are high 🙂

We plan to arrive 2 families in 2 seperate motorhomes on the 20th afternoonish after visting Stonehenge in that same morning.

    2 questions if I may:

    1. Is that a practical thing to do?
    2. Any recommendations for camping sites to spend the night of the 19th in? Close to Stonehenge.

    Thanks!

    @e2p2

It is the Solstice on the 20th I believe... If you dont have tickets you may be unlucky..

I have driven past (A303) many a time and always say "we should visit one day"... and always just have a photo taken of the driver with the stones in the background...

  16. Should be no problem it the CV Fields.. Assuming you are going to use it up against the Motorhome in an awning style.? basically you have an (approx) 8m x 7m to play with.

We have often travelled with friends in convoy and one parks in forward and the other reverses in so that the 2 habitation doors are facing each other and you can make a central group space...
