  1. Stating officially that the CV Fields open at midday and then letting people in at 7am... and dont tell me letting people in  keeps traffic off the road.. If they didnt let people in then the practice would soon stop.

*Note - I only dislike this because i tow a caravan from Cambs and it takes five hours on a good day...   🙄

  2. out of upvotes for all of you with tales of such personal bravery... Who are we to question the healing powers of those fields in light of your experiences..

One thing is for sure, the moment you arrive your spirit is lifted and the few day there will restore your faith in humanity....

I have one of those and have used it on site in the past. Just make sure if it's a spiky one you have the rubber cover over the spike.

I thought it was of limited use. It would take some weight off, but you still had to balance and use your leg muscles to keep steady. It might actually be aggravating for the knees.

Of course there is also the balance issue when you have impaired abilities.

yeah.. very valid points (no put intended).. I know that i tend to find myself standing at the back at gigs nowadays so that i can lean on something. I tend not to drink so much nowadays so less chance of wobbliness.. and I am considering (given the line-up) that I may look at spending Friday and/or Saturday around the Avalon / Croissant Neuf areas where there is plenty of potential seating

I will give it a go at Bearded Theory this month..

I have Bearded before Glastonbury too, I really need to start getting organised for it!

indeed... we will be on the way home from BT in 5 weeks!

My eldest daughter and her BF (newbie) are on holiday at the moment too.. am sure when they get back the focus on Glastonbury will be ramped up..

It's marked as "Closed", but if you go to the details it says "until May 2".

There's probably some work on the bridge across the river happening over the BH weekend.

Ahh..! I will leave the maps alone and get back to polishing up the van!

    Many thanks

  7. So, I got the caravan out to start getting it prepped and ready over the next couple of long weekends.. which got me looking (a tad early perhaps) at route planning..

coming from the east, i usually take A14, M6, Toll and then A38 and in past the National Memorial Arboretum... but have noticed on google maps that after NMA and the small railway bridge, you would normally bear left onto the road that leads to the site.. but that is marked as 'Closed'....

anyone know what that is about? It has the potential to cause horrendous traffic if true...

I was thinking more about today with the accommodation one . But yeah you have a point

ah... of course! no problem with that...

If it had been Sunday afternoon and they announced Coldplay my youngest daughter (who we couldnt help with a ticket) would be inconsolable..

Accessible Forward Campervan Site is in E21, at the top of the hill where its relatively flat, it was the back 4 rows in 2019 when this photo was taken. The pitches with hook up are in front of the hedge, same row as the Access Arrivals Tent and Wheelchair charging as shown in the photo below. A steward will direct them to their pitch. Shout out if you want any other questions answered I have been pitching in Accessible Forward Campervan Site since 2011. 😀

Bear with me as I try to explain this.

Last year they marked out what looked like fire lanes into the centre of the camping areas. But it turned out that wasn't what they were, they'd figured out that a lot of people arriving early camp next to paths, making it difficult for people to get to the middle. So these lanes were to get people through the outer tent crust.

Come Friday morning, they removed the tape that was marking out these lanes and people started pitching up in the spaces left.

It seemed a pretty good idea but obviously, people arriving later didn't know this and just camped further away, leaving the fields near the entrance with a fair few spaces.

So, if you are arriving later and can be arsed walking over to have a look, check the fields further in.

Maybe they could do with Glastonbury style 'field stewards' (I know they are not called that).. that inform campsite crew at the entry gates how much space they have... Have a big map at the entrance and direct campers?

I've only been once before (2014) stayed on the West campervan field.

Looking forward to seeing this hill of death from myself after reading about it so often.

sometimes also known as the Slope of Mild Inconvenience (my knees still think HoD)

I missed out one year and decided to go away camping in Dorset instead to avoid all the coverage. Sadly, without thinking about it at all, my route took me down the A37 straight past the site, while it was in full swing. I’ve been back every year it’s been on since.

This is the most ridiculous fail ever.... Imagine if it was the wednesday and you got caught in loads of traffic with vehicles filled with grinning idiots 😂

I missed last year after having a run from 2007 (missed 2008 deliberately - still drying out) and decided to fully embrace the BBC coverage... I really enjoyed it! and waking up in my own bed without a banging hangover was pleasant. My daughter absolutely ignored it and was grumpy with me even mentioning it..

I should imagine that if they could afford his rates that they too would be catered for. I said business people because that's how the story was told to me. This wasn't in this country btw, as he now lives and works in Switzerland. I got the impression that his clients were very high earners.

Mountains will usually add to the difficulty in golf i imagine

That happened with a journalist I knew who worked for the Birmingham Evening Mail. She would sort it so that her friends won the prizes.

Also, one of my brothers mates (a bloke who taught business people how to improve their golfing techniques) was told by the owner of a car magazine to fill out an entry form of theirs to win a car, and give him the completed entry form. He did this, and miraculously won the car!

Out of interest Yog… if your brothers mate were to be approached by say a farmer, nurse or conceptual artist that wanted to improve their golf technique… would he tell them to do one.?

There was no camping space for us late arrivals so they ended up having to make part of the car park outside of the main entrance into a campsite with just a few portaloos. Problem was people taking up camping space with gazebos. We got camped on a fire escape with their permission in field at top of site

They have always been so strict about the use of space (in Trent at least) with spaces actually pre marked..

a steward one year told me that I couldn’t park my pick-up next to my caravan and would have to go and park it in the general car park….

    oh how we laughed..
