  1. Cerebral, esoteric artrock band McFly also now playing Piece Hall
  2. Thought it could be useful to have a thread keeping track of gigs announced at the Piece Hall. So far for 2024 the following have been announced: Nile Rodgers & Chic Crowded House Loyle Carner Richard Ashcroft Jess Glynne Fatboy Slim Status Quo Would be great to see the National play there but probably wishful thinking given they've only just played in Leeds
  3. For anyone into shoegazey stuff (MBV, Diiv etc), would recommend Bdrmm
  4. Had a great day on Saturday. Went with mates from London who were all quite impressed with the festival/venues. Credit to the organisers for the scheduling - similar to @Memory Man didn't have to queue at any point, yet most places are decently busy and have a good atmosphere. Highlights for me were Fat Dog and Cousin Tony's BNF. Last Dinner Party, Hamish Hawk, Antony Szmierek all excellent too. Only disappointment for me was English Teacher - I have enjoyed their last two singles but it fell flat live. Perhaps didn't help I was near the back and couldn't really see
  5. Would bite your hand off for that lineup. OPN would be a great booking for an after dark set. Bill R-J also a good shout seeing as he has a new album out next year and is touring.
  6. App and full clashfinder now available. Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird are playing at Belgrave - they weren't listed when the Belgrave lineup was announced on social media. Special guest is listed as 'Parents Evening' which could be English Teacher
  7. Anyone got any guesses as to who the special guest is at Wardrobe? Feel like it could be someone who has a headline gig in Leeds coming up so didn't want to be announced. Squid ruled out as they're playing in Bristol on both next Friday and Saturday evenings
  8. I've only been once (last year) and I hardly had to queue to get into any venue. Saying that I only went to the O2 once in the middle of the day, I suspect that can be busier in the evening
  9. Trying out for tickets for the first time tomorrow. If you are lucky enough to get through, is it simply a case of selecting the number and type of tickets you want? Or do you need to add any details for the group, e.g. names?
  10. A good samaritan has set up a Clashfinder with all the set times that have been published so far. Would recommend adding a highlights row so you can plot out the day (go to 'customise' then 'stages'). Looking forward to seeing the Brudenell lineup - hoping the likes of Fat Dog and Cowboyy are there
  11. Just seen that there is a club night called Projekt advertised at the O2 Academy on the 14th. It only starts at 11pm, so could be after Live at Leeds but I'm wondering if the O2 has been dropped as one of the venues this year
  12. Someone asked them this on Twitter and they said 'closer to the festival', which implied it's not coming tomorrow. I don't think you'd have any trouble getting tickets later on if you wait until they announce set times. I checked back and they released set times around a month before the festival last year, so hopefully it won't be too long before they confirm them
  13. Final wave of acts coming tomorrow at 10am. Not expecting any massive names at this point, already a fairly stacked lineup. Probably going to be some painful clashes when the venue lineups come out
  14. To anyone going to this who doesn't already know them, I would really recommend WH Lung, they are brilliant live
  15. Have been musing about potential future first time Pyramid headliners. Probably covering old ground on the forum but the most obvious contenders seem to be: Taylor Dua Madonna Sam Fender Rihanna The 1975 Harry Styles George Ezra The Weeknd (if he were to accept a lower payday) Lizzo? AC/DC? Then there are pop acts like Gaga, Miley and Katy Perry who potentially could - but would maybe need another big hit/album to headline, given they've all played the Pyramid before but lower down. Possible heritage acts who haven't headlined - Nick Cave & BS (personally think he should get the nod before he packs it in given how good he and the BS are live), Depeche Mode, Strokes (can't really see this ever happening but never say never). Little Simz and Dave maybe both also potentials? Who have I missed?
  16. Fine - I take your point on those acts. That was just to point out that bigger acts (or ones that have gained a bigger profile since) have played WG. Looking at 2022, of acts which played on WG on Fri, Sat and Sun,* by my count 23 were exclusive to WG. Only 7 also appeared on other stages *excluding Club de Fromage, Ultimate Power and 'In conversation with...'
  17. I’m not going to say anything particularly original here, but I’ve been following the news about William’s Green on here and still think it’s a massive shame and poor move by GFL to get rid of it. I’m not going this year so have no particular skin in the game but have enjoyed various sets in WG over the years. I’m basically ambivalent and offer no comment on Carhenge but will be interested to see what people say about it on here. I would echo the points made by @mr mister and @Memory Man that it’s hard to see where a certain type of alternative act can now play at Glastonbury. I enjoyed seeing WH Lung and Sorry on WG last year but I struggle to see where those types of acts would now play. The following have all played WG since 2013 (not including Thurs night sets) the 1975, Martha and Rufus Wainwright, Swim Deep, Everything Everything, the Vaccines, King Gizz, the Big Moon and loads more. Ultimately WG perhaps suffered on Fri – Sun as being a bit of a peripheral location. It was also a shame last year that it did not get a dedicated poster release before the whole lineup had already come out. The promotion of WG always felt a bit half-arsed – it was always really far down the list of stages (and below objectively smaller stages) on the full lineup on the website which always struck me as odd. WG also probably suffered from people thinking “I’m at Glastonbury – I ought to go and see [big act on Pyramid/Other] rather than a smaller act I can easily see for £10-20 at a small venue near me” – I’ll admit that has sometimes been my thinking when faced with a clash. As others have said, of all the areas where budget could be cut it seems perverse to entirely get rid of WG which must be a drop in the ocean of the festival budget as a whole. Ultimately Glastonbury does lose some credibility as being an incubator of new/alternative music as a result.
  18. Decent first announcement imo. Around 10 acts I'd happily see having explored a few since it came out - though it will come down to clashes. Especially looking forward to Wunderhorse who I haven't seen before. Wondering if venues will be the same as last year or if they will also use the new Project House in Armley. Seeing as the people behind Brudenell and Belgrave (which are both used for LAL) are linked to Project House it doesn't seem impossible, although it would be a bit of a trek from the other city centre venues.
  19. Happening on Saturday 14 October this year. Early bird tickets now sold out, general sale now on for c. £46. First wave of artists coming next week. If anyone going to LAL In the Park tomorrow hears/see anything about the lineup please post in here - guess they could potentially have posters up about it
  20. Looks good that. £20-25 is an absolute steal, quite a few of the acts playing could surely command that ticket price for a headline gig
  21. Few more names announced for this yesterday, including James Yorkston & Nina Persson, English Teacher, Steve Davis & Kavus Torabi, Divorce. May just be my personal taste but the lineup seems way weaker than previous years. I know old lineups can look good in hindsight when artists have blown up since, but last year's lineup looks about twice as good as this year's. Bit disappointed as I was hoping to be persuaded to go this year, but I'm just not feeling it based on the lineup
