Yeah I think they were like mannequins with lights for heads doing the cancan. That sounds even more absurd. I'm going to try and find a video.

I saw KC at my very first festival. Reading 2006.
Half way through yer man starts a chant of...
”When I say Kaiser, you say Chiefs!”.
It was at that moment I vowed never to return to Reading festival. Not even at the end of the first night! That was my first festival, I remember getting soaked watching Franz and being blown away by the weekend as a whole. Not interested in any other festival because there's no way it could get better. How wrong, young and naive I was.

A cheers for reigning in my expectations @vintagelaureate, was hoping they'd been busy in lockdown. Not stopping me having an afternoon soundtracked by the Rattlesnakes.

Sorry if already mentioned, been catching up on this thread in bursts recently but Frank Carter is teasing new material this week
Edit: And new Doves. Could be a good week ahead

The nation has been encouraged to feel safe shopping and spend money to get the economy moving again. I should imagine this is less footfall than the government hoped
-
For those inclined to queue outside a shop today (I doubt there are many on here but won't judge if there is) please consider shopping local/independent if you can. It's these business that we as a nation are more likely to lose and miss.

That IOW lineup, surely Jess must be doing a freebie to get back in bookers good books. Bailing after she was due on stage, she's not big enough a name to get away with that?
Also Chems missing, does that suggest they may not be in the UK for festivals next summer? I know it's not been long since playing Glasto but looking even less likely 2021?

I don't know why I was drawn to Example but I went there and spent 5 mins skipping through the tracks trying to find some poppy house but didn't find any

Some inoffensive summery indie from Vistas this morning including:

TEED has made some lovely stuff:
QuoteOn 22nd March a friend sent me a recording of the birds that were keeping her awake in the Canary Islands. It was early in this story and anxiety was high, so I took the recording and made some music to it as a present to send back, a hug, and an exercise to take my mind off the obvious. The next day I spoke to a friend in South London who like many of us was commenting on the volume of the birdsong in his garden, so I asked for a recording of that too, and he woke at dawn the next day and sent me blackbirds, house sparrows, and a great tit. I sent him music a day or two later. Working on my existing musical projects was proving difficult and so this pattern of receiving bird recordings from friends and sending them back songs emerged as a welcome practice.
On 15th April my friend Jon Wright of Sports Banger, aware of my project, showed me a drawing a kid had done on the letter Boris Johnson had sent out to every UK household. On it were colourful birds and “bum face boris bollocks”. Also the words “I can hear the birds again”. So I took that as a sign that I should finish this music, and release it as an EP called “I can hear the birds”.
The artwork is a painting by Jethro Buck, my pal who got up early in Brockley and recorded for me. We’ve known each other since we were 5. I’ve always hoped we’d get an opportunity to collide our worlds one day.
I did 8 tracks in total, from Delhi, Nairobi, New York.. here are 4 on this EP, because 4 feels like the right amount.
Thanks to the people who sent me recordings, you know who you are xxxx
Love

Had my first event re-postponed today. Derren Brown was a little ambitious about a new date in August!

I'd go back and check out Everything Is Wrong. Moves between that really good ambient slightly melancholy stuff like Porcelain and some old school high energy piano led dance. With a bit of guitar thrown in for good measure.
Thanks, that's likely to be tomorrow morning's listening.
I'm definitely fine with appreciating music made by knob heads. I do have a line somewhere but think it's fine for peoples lines to be at different places on the scale. I wouldn't judge anyone for listening to LP for example, yet wouldn't feel comfortable to myself.
Sorry to derail the thread. Everyone go listen to Moby:

Thanks, that was the verification I was after to be honest. I don't know much of his back catalogue apart from Play, plenty of time to explore further at the moment.

Only got to it today, and yes it really is rather good.
I think it's the best album out for ages. Possibly all year for me.
He gets a lot of stick. I know he's considered a bit annoying and there was that weird thing with Natalie Portman but there's nothing bad enough to avoid his music is there?

New Moby album out today, hadn't clocked that was coming. Be giving that a listen I think.
Really enjoying this

It seems that UK act heavy festivals seem to be able to hold onto their acts better at the moment (which makes sense). Hopefully a few of the big names will be back at least

Here's a game: try and think of another act who have such a precipitous drop from their first two LPs to the rest of their catalogue?
The Streets come to mind for starters.
Biffy Clyro

As for new music singer of dance monkey has put this out. I think her voice is great but could she just be a one hit wonder? Admittedly her last song has over 100m streams on spotify so probably not what would be called a one hit wonder but I'm rambling
Sound like a cross between her first song and this to me.

I was a bit slower than that but similar story. That Saturday was incredible at the time and has aged well in most places. I think it's the most time I've spent at one stage on one day at any festival, from Wolfmother through Muse who were also at their peak then in my opinion. In fact that Muse set is one of my favourite headline sets of all time I think.
