metcheck are psychotic. i've decided.

the met office has no such weather warning for the south. only the north where most of the floods happened last week. weather warnings are a pile of toss anyway. it's the climate we now live in where people need to be warned if there is any likelihood of anything at all happening to them. it's pathetic.

back to the weather: all this mudbath talk is sensationalist headline engineering. remember when we were all going to die of bse/ebola/bird flu? well, did we??

yes, it will rain. it will also be sunny at times. just like the weather we've been having in the south over the past week or so. some areas will be lucky enough to avoid heavy downpours and you'll have to be pretty unlucky to be under heavy SUSTAINED downpours. personally, i'm looking forward to a mix of weather. i've spent a fortune on my wellies and want to wear them.

I read that, but any publication that pulls out all the stops to interview Shabnam from BB is open to ridicule.

Oh fook!

Times article THIS morning!!!

'Mudbath ahoy for Glastonbury'

Revlelers at this year's Glastonbury will be beset by flooding and mud baths according to weather forecasts.

Meteorologists predict persistent rain throughout the week at Pilton, recreating the waterlogged scenes of 2005 when the equivalent of a month's rain fell in 2 hours.

Some 300 tents were washed away that year. ME has spent over ยฃ750,000 on flood prevention.

Stepehn Davenport the senior meteoroligist for METEO group UK said that the amount of surface water set to build up oeant that mudbaths were inevitable " We could be looking at 80mm (3.1in) of rain - that's quite a deluge, so mudbath ahoy'

Aaaaaah! And Baaaaaaaaaaah!

Just dig out the wellies..its the high winds tomorrow I aint looking forward to! ;)

just seen an old guy, with a long beard and a rather large wooden boat hanging round Glastonbury Tor asking for directions for somewhere called the Mount of Olives. Had a lot of animals with him for some reason.

yeah but this is the same tired lazy story that a lot of reputable and less reputable papers are running. It is a) a good headline to grab peoples attention and ;) probably written at the weekend using old data and taking no account for any changes of the weather.

Totally agree mate, they are all just jumping on the bandwagon, hoping to sell more papers....the weather forecast has changed slightly for the better from yesterday, and I anticipate that it will change again tomorrow!!!

I take your point, but can you imagine the flak we'd get if we thought there MIGHT be some severe weather, but weren't sure...so didn't issue a warning? Then a load of people die cos they weren't expecting it? Generally, the public don't take kindly to that sort of thing! Plus all the warnings issued for the last few days have been spot on as far as I know, I'm sure the people who's houses are now flooded will concur!

*meant to add - I'm sure we all remember what happened last time something major happened that we didn't predict**!

**That story is widely mis-reported as it happens, but still....

it keeps changing so much guys, think we are really gonna have to wait till we get there and see. They were predicting crap weather up in here Leeds today and its pretty good, its not going to be a heatwave but if we are lucky the predicated rain may pass us by. Just come prepared and we will be fine, on a plus note tesco just delivered my booze and festival supplies. ;)

Let's just all assume we're going to get completely pissed-upon (which is looking quite likely) and then anything else will be a pleasant surprise.

I've got a waterproof jacket, wellies and (hopefully) a nice watertight tent so I don't mind either way!

Yeah, we know it's going to rain and the site will get muddy. It's a shame, but I really hope it won't put anyone off from coming. Being jinxed and all, I've only ever gone in muddy years and still had a great time. And when the sun does come out, extra special things happen - anyone remember how magic Brian Wilson was on Sunday afternoon last time? ;)

So, I have a question for any out there who knows how to read the science - I'm thinking of you, Steve - are we likely to get bouts of sunshine during the Festival? Y'know, just a little bit... please?

I've just been out in the predicted miserable temperatures and deluges as predicted by the BBC yesterday.

I have to say, it was a lot sunnier, warmer, and completely drier than expected.

If this is their idea of bad weather, then bring it on.

...and I shall bring my t-shirts and sandals on. ;)
