First timer questions!

Hey! I’ve done a fair few of the UKs big and small festivals but not IoW so I have a few questions (which might help other newbies)

Travel from Thorness Bay Campsite 

Rather than muck in like I normally love to, I’ll be camping off site and travelling to and from each day (Thorness Bay). I heard there is a shuttle bus, but I can’t confirm it’s running times/costs. If there isn’t a bus are local taxis a good option, or are there hire bikes (Boris Bike-esque as is popular in many towns). 
 

Late night @ IoW

I know IoW isn’t a big late night festival, but are there acts/stages that don’t appear on the main line up that are open after 12? I’m mainly here for live music but do like to keep the party going without pissing off the locals (do people head to Newport after a day at the festival).

 

No booze on site 

I also understand that alcohol isn’t allowed to be brought in from outside. How strict is this rule and just how expensive is a beer inside the festival?

General run down

Other than this what would you say to a first time attender. Anything to look out for or avoid and any hidden gems in the festival or the wider island?

you can bring alcohol in to the campsite (so long as it's not glass) but you can't take it in to the main arena. 

The after party will be in smaller venues on site heading back towards the campsite, I know Electro Love is open late late, And i think  Hipshaker is too.

@Samturnxr how did you get on with staying at Thorness Bay and travelling to/from the festival site?  I've looked at doing the same for 2023, but somewhat put off by the distance.

Hi all, it's me and my wife's first time to IOW next year travelling from Leeds on the Big Green Bus, we've never been to IOW at all, what's the travel on the ferry like, any security to go through etc....

Being of an older age whats the roudiest campsites to avoid and the quieter ones to look out for?

Ferry doesn't require passports, no checks etc. Because its the main way to the festival there may be police about, think similar to service stations near Glastonbury.

Further out campsites will be quieter, IOW has a lot of premium camping / family camping / glamping options which mean roudier people may be more concentrated in the main campsite but I never thought it was too bad. The main campsite isn't huge.
