Driving to IoW

How have people found driving to IoW? First year there and considering it.

Any tips on how much hassle it is compared with public transport?

And also, better to get the car on the ferry and park, or are there options to park on the mainland and get over as foot passengers?

Easy. We've used Red Funnel. They have a decent sized car par both ends.

It's a bit of a trek from Cowes to Newport so we find taking a car convenient. More so if you're camping and got loads of gear.

Not sure about parking and foot passenger though.

Not cheap taking a car... load it up with passengers if you can
