Bilbao BBK live: Newbie HELP!

Hello! So I am not only a BBK live newbie but also a festival/concert newbie so as you can imagine i'm anxious and my head is filled with questions. (If you have any advice/information for newbies go ahead and let me know)

I might be attending Bilbao BBK live in summer 2014- Here are some of my questions

1) What is there in the festival area? I know there's two stages i believe?

2) Are the acts divided among the two stages? How does the two stages thing work, if it does apply?

3) Am I allowed to bring my DSLR in the arena/ festival area?

4) What time does the arena open, the entertainment start, the entertainment finish and the arena close?

5) Have any of you been lucky enough to meet an artist at BBK live, and if so how?

and any input you want to make, comments etc.

Thank you!!

Hi Smileya, I'm not an expert, but have been to BBK once and think I can answer most of your questions, so here goes:

1 - From memory, in the main festival area, there are 3 stages, possibly even 4. There's also the usual bars, merchandise stalls and food stalls, plus a few corporate sponsor stalls - I think they had a stall selling Seat cars, when I was there!

2 - Acts are spread over all the stages, so there are bands on pretty much all the time and the different stages will often have bands on at the same time, so don't expect to see every band!

3 - Generally, the rule with festivals and gigs is that they don't allow 'professional' photographic equipment into the arena. Compact cameras are fine, but I would be extremely surprised if they let you take a DSLR in. Aside from that, there's no way I would take something that valuable to a festival. Touch wood, in all the years I've been going to festivals, I've never had anything taken from my tent, but I know plenty of people that have.

4 - I can't remember exactly, but I think the arena opens around 5 or 6pm, with bands on the stages pretty much straight away. I think the headliner finished on the main stage at around midnight, but there were bands on until about 2am on the second stage. I would assume the arena closes around 2:30am - 3:00am, but I never made it that late!

5 - Never met any artists at BBK or any other festival, it's not really my thing. I enjoy the music and like certain bands more than others but have never felt any great urge to meet any of them! I'm not sure about BBK, but a lot of festivals have signing tents, where certain bands will be, at certain times, where you can go and (very briefly) meet the band and maybe get a t-shirt or cd signed.

Hope some of that helped!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
