Portapotti chemical alternatives?

Hi all,

3rd timer at Glasto this year but 1st time in a motorhome!

We have been given an old Thetford portapotti to take and are just wondering if any of you have any tips on alternatives to the shop bought chemicals to use please?

I did read something about Milton sterilising fluid and something else the other week but can't find the site now.

We use tesco value biological washing liquid. Just use a cap full as if doing the washing....

It works a treat and only costs a couple of quid for a big bottle !

the "green" camping bog stuff only costs 3.99 at our local camping shop. why much about for the sake of a couple of quid ?

It's not just a cost thing for me, although as we're away lots the savings do add up....

I don't find that Aqua Kem, or any of the green liquids actually work that well... grime and stuff builds up in the cassette.

Washing liquid seems to keep it pretty clean, better than the 'real' alternatives.

Also, I try to make sure that everything has two uses - we have limited carrying capacity and try to lessen the load whenever possible...

yes the CV fields have the usual unpleasant smelly containers to get rid of your waste.

OK so thanks for the tip regarding washing liquid will be giving it a shot this glasto. We have room - but agree with you about getting the most out of each thing you bring ... cheers :-)
