Arriving Thursday Morning

We will be arriving Thursday morning by coach. There are 8 of us with 2 big 4 man tents. (quechua base 4.1 's)

1 of our group is blind, so ideally want to be near to a main path to reduced guy line trip ups for him. We also want to be camped together so using the disabled camp is not an option I gather.

Does it always get pretty much full-up by Wednesday night with only small gaps between tents to pitch up in ?

We really don't mind where we camp but will we find a large spot anywhere? Will the outskirts of the camps be emptyish thurs morning ?

Have always got to Glasto first thing Wednesday before so never found a problem but never really took much notice how much space was left by Thursday morning.

Has anyone on here arrived Thursday needing a big space before ? how did you get on?

4.1's aren't that big, I thought you were going to say a couple of Verona 6s or the like ;) Should be plenty of space left if you dont mind camping away from the main areas.

As a side note, has your friend registered for the disabled facilities? You only have until Friday to do so, even if its only to use the platforms when things are a bit crowded.

Yes, you'll be fine.

As soon as you spot somewhere go for it.

My advice would be dont go near the main fence ( can be used as a popular urinal unfortunately) or just off the pathways as peeps can often fall off into your "area" or just the general dust from the traffic if it's dry.

You should be alright! However, as years have gone by fields fill up pretty sharpish by Wednesday night and Thursday morning. We were shocked last year and the year before when we arrived about 3pm (both years) on the wednesday and there wasn't too much in the way of space.

As for the disabled camping... my parents have been camping there for about 10 years now and they've never had any problems with bringing someone else in, my mate's mum who's come for the last few years stayed with them in the disabled field last year and they had no problem with it. The staff who organise the disabled field are extremely friendly and with try and accommodate any requests you may have, I think it's a guy called John who runs everything logistically speaking and he's always about around the campsite. The disabled campsite is great too! Nicely secluded whilst being in the centre of everything; the pyramid stage is just a stone's throw away and you're right next to the cinema field and the John Peel stage.

The toilets in the disabled field are wonderful! They are kept super clean and there is running water and even showers! My folks love it in there..... There's friendly volunteer security on the gates so your stuff will be fine. To top it all off, there's a great little community in the disabled field; a communal fire and log seats create a peaceful mystical kind of ellusion where everyone gets on a gets nicely drunk. It's well worth looking into....

Contact [email protected] and they will try and help you no end!

Thanks for the encouraging replies. Looks like I might be worrying about nothing.

Steve has applied for the disabled facillities and will be bringing a sighted guide along for free on a PA ticket. Disabled camping site sounds great but it says on the main site that he can only bring 4 friends, not 7. Although we will all be helping out so that maybe an option for us.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
