I'm trying to set up Skype on our computers so that Mrs Grumpyhack can see and chat to her family in Australia. But I knew very few Skype users and have so far only been able to chat to my nephew who lives about 15 miles down the road from me.

Have any of you any experience of Skype and how good have you found it?

All advice received with thanks.

Two of my children have been studying at French Universities, one last year and one this year. We use Skype almost daily to keep in touch. Find it a great way of maintaining contact.

Maybe you dont remember Roiston from the 08 MFG. We used to have regular Skype MFG group sessions. Roiston no longer hangs out here and I guess FB has taken its place.

Just managed a very good Skype connection to Australia to see new great nephew. We had a lot of family here for our birthday (Mrs GH and I share the same birthday so had a combined party) and we all gathered around to see new baby Thomas presented to the world. He'd just been breast fed and, bang on cue, threw up in front of the camera to huge applause at this end.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
