Madness! Was looking OK the other day... ho hum, things can still change. - makes it look like i was lying (that image updated automatically every day)

Check out http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/62701-gla...orecast-blog-1/ - that seems to be dismissing the rain that metcheck notices. I think it's still far far too early to tell.

From the 8th or 9th check this: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=events;sess= - and then choose the correct festival - but even that is a 16 day forecast. I don't really trust much beyond a 3 day forecast. As i said before, the sky is a huge place, glastonbury festival is a relatively small place, a lot can happen day to day, a local wind can push rain away (or onto us) so really hard to tell what will happen tomorrow in such a small amount of surface area...

Latest forecast looking better - at least not rain every day now! But still a long time for everything to change!

weather.co.uk does decent 10 day forecasts - but anything over a week is a real guess, there are just too many dependencies to say what is going to definitely happen.

Think how big the sky is, and how small glasto is, they can tell us (with some degree of honesty) what will happen in Somerset. But to get the weather right for an actual FARM is almost impossible for anything other than the next 6 to 12 hours... could have brilliant sun in Taunton and rain in glasto, or the other way around.

But still I love a good long range forecast NOTE: all links open in a new window :)

MetCheck current feelings are:

The metcheck and netweather are peoples personal estimations of the weather, from various long range forecasts they have access to.

16 day forecast for glasto will be here:

And rough guesses:

Guardian predicts good weather (in a very general way...)

The Gorge usually puts together some sort of weather guide in the weeks before the festival:

gorge.org - glasto 2010

I'll be hitting all those sites on the refresh between now and the big day!

Praying for great weather - warm days, cool nights :)

Metcheck lifts its results from the GFS forecasting model, which updates 4 times per day.

At this stage the results for 2.5 weeks away will vary wildly. Yesterday afternoon the forecast for the Wednesday was wet and windy, by the evening it was hot and sunny. So for the next week we'll keep seeing this regular variation. By this time next week we'll start to see some trends and it is only then that we can start forecasting with any confidence.

The one regular feature is that 'high pressure' seems to be to the West of Britain suggesting a cool and mainly dry set-up. But this can and will change.

I've never had a completely dry Glastonbury, but only 2 of my 6 were really muddy so don't get entirely downhearted if rain is forecast. It may get muddy quickly but clay dries quickly too.

    • Definitely see this as being 'weak' on paper but could see a few bumps up from previous sets at Download (Don Broco, Neck Deep etc).
    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.
