Foals...?

No you must have misunderstood what I was saying...

Okay maybe the poster I quoted is not a fan of Editors and I was wrong to quote him but I do agree in one respect. Foals are definitely, and musically more diverse and have a better sound (for me) than Editors. But they will never be as famous, or draw as big a crowd because they don't have the anthemic feel of Editors when they play live. I don't rate Foals live just because every time I've seen them they seemed timid and they don't have that many songs that can generate a buzz like Editor's singles do.

I mean look, to the masses, Foals are basically the band that released Cassius, Balloons, maybe Mathletics... But most people won't have a clue what they released. There's no chance they'll ever be as big as Editors, who have so many anthemic singles: Blood, Racing Rats, Papillon, Sparks, Bullets, etc, etc. They just don't suit a big stage and a big crowd, and that's just the way it is with some bands...

Actually funnily enough I'll probably be going to see Foals, as I haven't had a chance to see their new stuff live... Plus I currently have Antidotes on in my car when I drive to work, so I'm looking forward to the chance to hear Red Socks Pugie, Heavy Water and the like. I'm not trying to undermine my previous opinions, I've just seen Editors a lot more times than I have Foals (about 6:2)... Shame they do clash though. On that we can agree.

Does it seem a bit odd to anyone else the slot they've been given this year? I would have thought them and Editors would have been the other way round, and I have a feeling they're going to draw a massive crowd...

  • 2 weeks later...

Ive got their new album on repeat with Groove Armada's new one.

Two Trees actually brings tears to my eyes. Its simply stunning. Spanish Sahara, Afterglow, Alabaster, This Orient. Its just a fantastic album and stunned that they are only placed where they are. Below the XX??? baffling

    • That's the festival apart fay tickets in some form sold out.
    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.
