Ok guys im a festival virgin !

Just got a few things to ask and hopefully you guys can answer :P

1. How packed is it if me and my mates arrive for Leeds to camp on thursday?

2. Do they search your bags for things, also are they bothered about under 18's bringing in booze. (just that my friend is 16 and if he can't bring it in i will just load my bag out with it).

3. Is there usually a date for 2nd announcement (like how first is generally end of march) or is it just random?

4. Do they have sniffer dogs for drugs?

Edit - Btw is it a good place to get laid?

1.) It will be my first year too so canot say

2.) I've never had my stuff searched at any festival, but it does happen occasionally. just split booze between your mates so if one gets nabbed you wont lose the lot

3.)Apparently near end of April

4.) yes but i'ts easy to get in to festivals really...

5.) lots of girls up for it if you go looking for them, have a few drinks ready to share or carry a lighter and you'll be their saviour

Id try and get there early, youll (im guessing) have a better experience if you camp in one of the closer (red blue orange) campsites (yellow and white will be full) than green or brown. But dont resort to a crap place, alot of people who get there late camp at the bottom of orange hill, or in the woods. Its kinda obvious why not to camp there.

I dont think theyre too bothered about age tbh, they know if you're gonna drink, then you're gonna drink. Obviously if he looks about 12 then there's a problem.

Im sure you will be clever enough to find solutions to drugs related things elsewhere on the internet, I doubt the admin will want talk of it here..

Can be, depending on your standards (Dunno if anyone camped in orange last year saw "millie", she was definately up for it, 22 guys over the weekend, you can imagine what she looked like)

lol.. best set of questions ever son.

they seemed to get more amusing/naive/desperate as they went down, kinda funny.

Like it son!

1. I got there at about 4pm Thursday, pretty packed but we found a good spec in Orange, it all depends on how big your tent is

2. They search your bags, but not properly, i got deoderant, cookers, and glass bottles in! plus i was under 18 last year and was fine with my ale

3. The next main stage/NME announcement will be around May

4. Ive never come across sniffer dogs

5. LOOK FOR GEORDIES!!!!

Due to the last question maybe you could take festival out of the title of this thread :P only joking. You will have a great time its an awesome weekend especially the first time, and with the lineup this year you can't go far wrong.

Been here since last year, and this is the best thread I've seen. No real point adding my theories, looks like it's all been uncovered :P Although, just like to add, on the camping note, got there for 4pm on the Thursday, Orange Funfair is NOT fun. I was 16 last year and alcohol was fine. Didn't see many druggy dogs. And sex well, I think everyone is easy after a couple of nights with no sleep :P

Hahah, laughin at "Orange Funfair is NOT fun"

Cant have been as bad as some guy I knew who camped bottom right of orange hill, near the funfair, and constantly being hit by people rolling/sledging down the hill

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
