BEATSDIGITAL Loves Manchester Underground Music

We all know that Manchester has always been known for it's capacity to churn out some of the best music around, and in the electronic music scene "MUM" is no exception...

Manchester Underground Music, fondly known as MUM, has come a long way since its launching in January 2009. The label was founded by Jonathan 'The Fox' Waller with the aim of showcasing the hottest talent, predominantly from his recently adopted home town Manchester and surrounding areas. Having previously worked with Rhythm Masters, Dis-funktional, Nocturnal Recordings & 852 Recordings, to name but a few, and working in conjunction with DJs from the world-renowned Sankeys and Area 51, a wealth of experience and diverse ideas contributed to the labels rapid rise.

Celebrating their 10th Release with an all-nighter at Area51 next week (see below), MUM has established itself as a bright and rising star in the expanse of the tech house sky, bringing with it a host of talented future stars - Mark Holmes, Curious George & The Agent, Tempered DJs - all making waves internationally as a strong collective representing the sound of MUM.

Driven by passion and a love for music, what began as an outlet for the huge amount of local talent as a platform for international recognition, has now acquired the opportunity to work with well-established and respected international DJs & producers (watch this space!). Working with these established names, as well as the future heroes with their energy and unbridled enthusiasm, gives the label a vibrant edge.

MUM intends to continue to deliver uncompromising quality music, as well as some of the sickest club tours, for which planning is already underway. In fact, the very first MUM night is set for 11th July 2009 in conjunction with Kaluki at Area 51, Manchester UK.

With several prolific album projects, club tours , vinyl and CD releases to complement the digital release schedule, plus a few surprises along the way, MUM is most definitely setting the pace.

Now we could tell you to go check out the new release Rocket Science from the Tempered Djs & Ellesse which is an absolute corker of a release, but you're well advised to check the whole catalogue - it's not often we get to say this, but every release is sublime!

    • Yeah credit where it's due, that's a really good price to try and help get people in.   Most of my early football games were to see West Brom as my uncles are Baggies. Did a few trips to the Hawthorns, Luton, MK Dons, did most of the London grounds between Championship + Prem.
    • would you be able to post the statement? I can’t seem to find it
    • I worked Wilderness for Oxfam this weekend. I was very lucky as my shift was in the arena on Sunday afternoon & I saw all of Annie's set.   I echo every word. She was brilliant. The Legend slot is made for her.
    • Seeing more stuff about Madonna turning down glasto for three nights in London, what do we reckon? Likelihood looking low now or keep the faith?
    • Do we think there is realistic chance Sziget could get cancelled? I'm reading about Hungarian energy crysis and many measures and prohibitions due to this.    They relesed a statement and comment section is on fire..
