Deaf/Blind

I watched the Documentry the other day, about the 65 year old couple that had been deaf all their life, and got an operation to be able to hear again, which i think was scary/exciting/frustrating for them both.

But I was wondering if there is alot of deaf and or blind people go to Glasto, and what there experiences are, for instance do deaf people, enjoy the performance, and like the people on tv, feel the vibrations, or is it a different experience? is any of your friends, deaf or blind, and go to Glasto?

a friend of mine is blind, and used to go to Glasto every year, tho hasn't been for a while now.

He'd go see some of the bands and got himself about OK, sometimes asking for help from people for things such as pointing him at an empty toilet cubicle, and his comments about the help he got were always good - sometimes he'd ask some random to take him to where the toilets were, and when he got there would thank them for their help and say he'd find his own way back, but they'd often wait for him and take him back too.

My GF is visually impaired, a long way from a white stick, but she can't see the signposts, so finding her own way around would be a major challenge. Its the nature of the beast, the whole point of Glasto is that its big, bewildering and chaotic. It means we have to do all the bands together and take everything a little bit slower. Sometimes we stand in front of the big screens at the Pyramid for early acts even when you can get close to the stage, but mostly we don't bother - you listen to music with your EARS! :-)

For Glasto its really just a navigation problem. Had no probs at all when we went to Cambridge Folk Fest a couple of years ago, which is the size of a village fete (and just as genteel).

I guess people are good and help out where they can, which i guess has been both your experiences.
