Consistant opinion on here that AM are dull live and also need to go on for longer.

Only challenged by nearly everyone who has seen them live on this tour who claim they are smashing it.

Spot on. Amazing how everyone on here are ignoring people and reviews of the last week. After going to Ashton Gate I went from ‘meh’ on this to very up for the Friday night - it’s going to be great.

See what I said earlier - Foo & QOTSA are managed by the same team.  QOTSA have a Cardiff Castle show on the Friday & Sunday at Glastonbury.  If their management block-booked a hotel for Glastonbury weekend for ease of travel between the 2 sites, it's possible someone just assumed it's Foos.

I don’t think think this is exactly what happened, but something like this is possible. For what it’s worth it’s not come from someone on the hotel side of things

As someone who knows from the same place as Joey, I certainly wouldn’t be clinging on to it as proof they’re doing this spot (and neither is the source).

  3. The Foos hotel rumour... I know Joey's source and it is v good and v honest (it's the one that brought you Acardia last time amongst others). So I don't doubt it true at the time and they still believe it for what it's worth.

Although there was talk at the time it could be about a Special Guest appearance, there's nothing since to link to this slot. Grohl could be coming to watch.

Judging from a lot of their performances, seems more likely that it’s the band who gets bored.

For all the stick - and I agree as I’m someone who was very bored on their last tour - they were absolutely brilliant on Monday and seem to be getting great reviews in England this time around. Something felt different. Defiant almost. A swagger.

That Coventry setlist smashed Bristols by including Cornerstone. That run from  Why'd you only call me to Mardy Bum is great.

Maybe in isolation, but dropping Mardy Bum (and to a much lesser extent My Propellor) out of the blue was better. Also I've seen Cornerstone a lot more times than Suck it And See.

I guess as arguably already one of the world's biggest acts they don't need to have mad setlist skills, big stage personality/presence and any flourishes live but my GOD they'd be f**king ACES if they did.

Not always been impressed with them live before, but they nailed it at Ashton Gate on Monday. They were up for it and had much more presence than normal. A really great gig from them.

Emily's story was hardly flattering guns

Shut up. Please. Even if few people think it's a good booking even fewer want any more discourse on Guns n Roses in threads not about Guns n Roses.

I just popped in to see if it was Pulp or Foos and now it's Blur.

I don’t think that is a legit account. If you go on their likes page it’s liking peoples theories of it being Foo fighters which has barely any interactions on it and then a couple of Foo fighters official tweets. May be wrong but can’t imagine any legit account relating to Foo fighters would be doing that

Yeah the twitter is so on the nose, that if it is linked to ‘The Churnups’ it’s almost certainly a deliberate novelty red herring. However it’s much more likely it was made yesterday by someone completely unconnected who was bored at work.

After social media (including people on this site) mobilised a complaints campaign to the festival and the council after last year it was inevitable there would be some blowback.

Didn’t complain personally, but was caught up by accident in a couple of pretty bad crowd moments and can’t honestly blame anyone who complained about them. Something needed addressing.

100% agree with this, they didn't do anything special for 2013, it just seems like they did because the setlist on that tour was imo huge.

Bands evolve and people need to remember that they aren't they same band as they were 10 years ago.

They did do something different though - they had a string section, and played Mardy Bum and A Certain Romance which weren’t staples. Neither were regulars on the tour and the latter was basically a homage to their 2007 set. Looking back they practiced that a few times in the build up and dropped it again shortly after Glastonbury.

In 2007 they did Diamonds Are Forever and had Dizzee Rascal (even if his mic didn’t work)

They won’t radically overhaul the set but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a few different bits.

New music from these boyos would be superb. The Magic Whip is a belter record. One of their best.

    There's music coming

Blur shifted tickets like hot cakes for BST a few years ago though, didn't they? Never doubted they'd shift for a single Wembley Stadium date, particularly if billed as their only date of note.

Think that second one has been a bit ambitious though.

I got one for £2.50 a few days before. But think the appetite is higher now. They been around a fair bit 2009-2015.

Not according to eFests last time we tried to figure this one out...

That LCD Soundsystem gig was magical. A long, tough but enjoyable festival with a cathartic ending. One of the best crowds of the festival enjoying every second. I remember the countdown clock for the set behind James, and as it ended with All My Friends it had that feeling of trying to cling on. Those Coldplay wristbands going off everywhere too and it felt like the only place to be. My favourite gig at the festival I think.

when they tried again they put a big back-up plan in place, kasabian were booked to headline if prince didn't, and metalica were booked to headline other stage against prince (if he played).

I think they tried again in 2015. Was with Michael Eavis at an event that year and he was saying a headliner was going to be announced hopefully that evening, and to paraphrase it was basically sorted but that he wasn't taking anything for granted until 100% done as he has pulled out before. Then nothing came and The Who filled in (and pretty sure one of their crew confirmed they were Prince replacements in a blog).

  15. I think anyone who headlines All Points East can probably be considered for Other Stage headliners. They didn't sell it out but it would be a good booking against a lot of acts.

From what I've heard anecdotally it came over better with casuals than actual fans.

Yeah, I think it actually went down pretty well. Lots of fans seemed annoyed as it wasn't the big anthemic singalong (that they would get on the Other Stage). Those unfamiliar with them, who didn't know if these were classics or new, just seemed to think they were good.

I'm not sure addresses not matching in the general sale would cause a cancellation.  What about where the payment is made by someone other than the ticket holder? Must be numerous such instances surely?

    21 hours ago, billum said:

I heard a very similar story, and the decisive factor was not the address of the payment card (I've often paid for other people's tickets with my card with no problem), but that he'd asked the tickets to be dispatched to somewhere entirely different to the registered address. So he was asked to provide utility bills at the address he was registered at (near the festival) to prove he lived there - which he couldn't because it belonged to his mum, whose name was on the bills.

Yeah the issues I have heard about are because someone changed their address rather than the card. It then flagged it on the system.

People use other people's cards to pay and I am not actually sure a merchant can see your address when you give them the number?
