  1. efestivals goes around and around, and eventually comes to the conclusion that I was right all along.

here's another one that you can all agree with in 100 pages from now: disco (and its offspring) are the high water marks of human cultural expression.  Ancient cave paintings, Shakespeare, Leonardo di fucking Vinci were all just the warm up for Nile Rogers.

while I agree we probably need to be registering for online social media with ID because its out of control (despite the scary prospects that brings in the wrong hands, would probably just make me drop all those things) I'd rather such laws were made by people who understand the landscape. Because this does not give me confidence that would be the case...

Good luck trying to force Zuckerberg to do anything about Twitter.

I didn’t know that there was somebody in the UK thats on a first name basis with the world who could draw an audience like this will. Harry and Meghan did just fine and they sure as hell weren’t going to do it with a UK outlet. Plus Oprah’s house is just over an hour away from Adele’s.

That would very much depend on your choice of daily newspaper, at least in this country.

They should have filmed it with us around the firepit in the background, that's what the people want to see! 😄

I have photos if you need them.  Not, it has to be said, the most flattering, but if you really want to see Stuhats-twohats dancing to Lizzo outdoors in the small hours it's all I've got.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I like what Josie Long said about Blur: "Who is my favourite member of Blur? - Graham Coxon. Who is my 2nd favourite member of Blur? - Dave Rowntree. Who is my 3rd favourite member of Blur? - Damon Albarn. Who is my 4th favourite member of Blur? - I haven't got one!"

    Where there's cheese, there's a bellend.

Had a look at that guy's timeline and it's just some sad c**t ranting into the void. No given name and a pic taken from a tv show. Sticking aggressive shite out there in the hope that someone bites, presumably doesn't mean any of it and thinks he's hilarious.

Why people dedicate their lives to being twats like that I couldn't tell you.

Struggling considerably at the moment. It's my mum's funeral next week (a full six weeks since she died, due to the delayed postmortem, which has felt like forever). Everything about the planning for that has been stressful, often needlessly due to other family members. There is now a delay to the coffin being delivered - no idea if that is related to the wider disruption or just unlucky but it is really not helping.

On top of that, my friend with cancer has just found out two of her kids have covid during chemo week. They've been taken to her mum's for a few days and she has been double jabbed but really was hoping not to see a real world test of the vaccines in clinically vulnerable people. Terrified she will get it and hoping for the best.

    Hey ZMG,

I've been off these boards for a while, so only just seen your news.  So sorry to read it, and I offer my condolences, for what it's worth.  Take care.

Yes there is …. I have every faith . And can’t wait to see everyone again

That's what I like to hear!  I've missed the build up on here with everyone 🙂

  9. How about Labour do all their incessant infighting *after* they get into power?  Starmer will still need support from all wings of the party, but there'll be some actual proper leveridge to use against him.  With real consequences and everything, that affect actual change in the country.

Or, let's all join the Conservatives and conquer from within.

Nah, that's me just being facetious.  Let's just carry on with this shitshow of a government forever shall we?

  10. We did our reintroduction to gigs a few nights ago; a jazz 'reframing' of Kid A at Ronnie Scott's.  This pandemic has been long and gruelling, but it will not rob me of my pretentiousness.

  11. This thread's descent from informative support to partisan squabbling is as depressing as it is inevitable.  The same dozen or so people posting at each other relentlessly, day in, day out.. what could possibly go wrong?

Let's hope, for everyone's benefit, that this shit will end soon.

And to think, some people on here doubted they would even do a million per week! 😄

I don't think it was too unreasonable to have some scepticism given our government's record over the last year or so.

Thankfully the vaccinations are going well, because we've all witnessed in harrowing detail what happens when mistakes are made, and in Johnson's case, repeated.

I totally get it, but my point is I think the public are pretty clear on the situation, it's the media that keep banging on about it more than anything. Like, why is Andrew Marr asking Lisa Nandy if she'd book a holiday? Who gives a shit? We know we can't go anywhere right now, and I don't *think* people are clamouring for an answer on it - we know it's not on the cards until at least May.

Because if he can get someone like Lisa Nandy to say she wouldn't book a foreign holiday now then it becomes a thing.  Then they get some representative of the travel industry - probably that gobshite from Ryanair - to come on and get all angry.  Then Simon Calder will come on, stood outside an airport or something, to earn his appearance fee.  Then the PM on Wednesday will throw it back at Starmer saying Labour want to cancel summer and claim his government is doing all it can to support the tourism industry.

And that's how content is made!

  14. Yeah, Kershaw's show stuck out like a sore thumb on the otherwise decent Saturday line up.  She's better suited to Sunday, which is largely terrible after Cerys and before Tom Robinson.

Actually, she'd be better suited to Talk Radio, but we'll have to wait for that.
