I probably shouldn’t be surprised, but Massive Wagons’ new single ‘Fuck the Haters’ is as cringe as the title suggests.

and the album is titled ‘Triggered!’...

Perhaps the album is a concept album of Daily Mail clichés.

    Track 1 - Snowflakes

    Track 2 - Offended

    Track 3 - Woke

Track 4 - Something or other about trans people or immigrants or something.

But it’s fine for Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, KISS, Aerosmith, Metallica and GNR to do that?

I’m a huge Biffy fan and have seen them at least 10 times, but even I have to admit that ballads are not their strength.

The bands you mentioned all have better (imo of course) ballads than Biffy by far.

I accept that your point was in answer to someone who said that ballads don’t belong at a metal festival, which is clearly untrue, but I wanted to point out the differences between a Biffy ballad and the rest .

The problem with naming it after anyone else now it's that it's hardly an honour is it? Oh they named a tent after you at Glastonbury? The one that was previously named after a sex offender? You must be so proud.

Plus there is no guarantee that whoever they name the stage after doesn’t also have   Skeletons in the closet and we’ll have to rename it again

Do you only ever read my posts on here? I was replying back to someone who brought them up like the other times.

No, I read all the posts on here so will obviously come across yours.

Just surprised that you were still on the Quo myth since the last time I asked you could only find one single person who suggested it, who later admitted that it was a joke.

I suppose if you keep repeating it often enough, some will start to consider it fact.

The suggestions for Download are outdated as it is, don’t make it worse.

If DL had the balls we could hopefully get a day like this:

    The Cure / Deftones / Placebo / IDLES / Ministry / Deafheaven / Helmet / Nova Twins*

    * just whacked them in because it’s inevitable like Wargasm (they are much better though).

Would be a great line up.

Other that The Cure, the rest of those bands wouldn’t be out of place at Download at all.
Most have already played, certainly Idles, Deftones , Ministry and Nova Twins, not sure about the others.

That's both awesome and insane about Turnstile subbing Metallica. So unbelievably cool to hear.

If I was booking DL, I'd be going all in on Turnstile and giving them a third down Main Stage slot.

They were absolutely awesome last week in Glastonbury, they would smash any slot they weee given.

As much as you don’t like the idea of Download being seen as out of touch it sadly is. The better fix for that is for Download to stop being the dinosaur rock festival it has become rather than you complaining I’m making fun of the silly suggestions like Status Quo to headline.

Rock and metal isn’t dead but I want Downlod to stop acting like it is.

    Ah, I see.

The amount of times you kept using Status Quo as an example of what the typical Downloader wants to headline, anyone would have thought you were seriously trying to create the impression that Download punters are even more outdated than they actually are.

  8. 22 minutes ago, jump said:

So in your search for the Download punters asking for Status Quo to headline, you found one single person? (And even that one didn’t say BMTH aren’t  big enough, just that BMTH fans won’t get it)

I hope you don’t normally use a single social media poster as a means of gauging average opinion otherwise you’ll have a crazy view of the world.

There are real serious suggestions of Status Quo should be headlining whilst complaining Bring Me aren’t big enough in this very thread.

Download has gotten to the point that the hyperbole jokes have become real. Lol

Well a quick search of the words Status Quo on here just brings up people claiming that everyone is calling for Status Quo to headline, without many actually making the claim. Let alone someone saying Quo should headline and BMTH aren’t big enough.

There may be the odd one or two if you go back far enough but in general I think people are just saying it to make out the average Download is even more outdated than they actually are.

And god knows where the Saxon thing comes from, I think people have just made that up as well.

The old ‘if you repeat it often enough it becomes fact’ trick.

Download has now literally accustomed its regulars to so much such shit for so long that someone like Status Quo is deemed more headliner worthy than Bring Me that any decent stadium band doesn’t want to play a fest like that.

Booking Foo Fighters or whoever wont fix the festival. It’s become out of touch of the actual rock/metal scene the same way Monsters Of Rock did, it’s even sadder that that they started booking Monster Of Rock bands to try and fix the problem too.

Book upcoming hot bands, make new must see headliners and fuck Saxon! 😜

Literally no one is calling for Status Quo or Saxon. The only time they get mentioned is when people say that the ‘double denim dinosaurs’ are calling for them, when they’re not. Even if they did, it would be a tiny tiny minority.

Saxon played in one of the tents last time they played and Quo played second stage when Linkin Park were on about 8 or 9 years ago.Even then, Linkin Park got the huge majority of the crowd, not bad for a festival full of old classic rock fans stuck in the past.

If you want to use examples of bands the old guard are looking for, you’d have more credibility if you used Maiden, Metallica or Megadeth as examples.

Download should book Run The Jewels in a high position for sure. Acts like Denzel Curry, 100 gecs and Ghostemane in particular would go down well too, I’m sure.

Ghostemane is one of the most exciting and experimental artist they could book. I saw him headline the Pit tent at leeds a couple years ago and it was as wild as any hardcore/metal act you can name. I watched Dana Dentata this year on the Dogtooth and the tent was busy. Granted, a large contingent looked a bit confused but plenty more were loving it.

It sounds simplistic af but it proves to me that the genre doesn’t matter; if the music makes you want to move and the vocals are confrontational/aggressive, people will enjoy it.

Ghostemane, Denzel Curry, 100 gecs, $uicideboy$, City Morgue, Ho99o9, Scarlxrd would all go down a storm at Download.

The Run the Jewels announcement hasn’t  gone down that well as a sub to RATM even with R+L fans so I can’t see how it would be any better at Download.

Can’t see Denzil Curry (one RATM cover does not a rock artist make) and 100 gecs doing much better either.

Agree that there’s no reason Ghostmaine, Ho99o9 and $uicideboy$ can’t so Download though.

Hopefully this has not been posted elsewhere, however this seemed like the best thread for this scathing opinion about the festival:

    https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/glastonbury-sums-up-everything-there-is-to-hate-about-rock-music

It always makes me laugh when they talk about ‘300 BBC staff went’ as if it’s a jolly or  they blagged their way in.

How on  earth do they expect the many hours of coverage they put out if they don’t have the staff there? I’m pretty sure the viewing figures justify sending 300 staff otherwise they wouldn’t do it.

Decided to make a thread for this as I have missed these a few times, here's some current ones:

£15 diana ross longleat this friday - https://centraltickets.co.uk/event/UTl3SlppaEV2QUVWUlZ6bUhrbDZndz09

Lots of lytham festival (no Strokes) on all seat filler sites

£3 admin fee ed sheeran seats for this thursday - https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/ed-sheeran-x-tour-london-30-06-2022/event/37005B3185CE1E39?did=edoffer

I didn’t know Ticketmaster did this. Do they have it on a separate section on the site or do you have to look though every tour to see if there is some going with £0 as the price?

I had a halloumi wrap in the village on the Saturday night and I’m quite sure it is one for the very best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’ve thought about it regularly since coming home.

Haha, I had some spicy deep fried cauliflower thingys in Glastonbury and I have been fancying them ever since.

At this stage they are the main thing I’m looking forward to getting a ticket next year for haha.

Oh, I forgot Steel Panther. 1/10 - See Alestorm. Shite. My halloumi fries were infinitely more enjoyable.

To be fair, halloumi fries are more enjoyable than most bands so that’s quite a high bar to get over.

  16. I love how the media linked the ‘after watching Greta’ and ‘this is the mess they made’ in an obvious dog whistle so the comments below would be filled with accusations of hypocrisy.

Even if the photos were from this year, how do they know that the ones watching Greta were the ones dropping the litter?

Plus I didn’t watch Greta and didn’t drop any litter so their argument is nonsense.

With respect can we stop saying the older crowd makes up most of Download? The main demographic is probably my generation (I'm 37). Probably 25-45 has the biggest representation there. I know we aren't kids anymore but come on haha. Yeah there are a chunk of over 50's but there are loads of 18-21 too, it's a mixed bag!

And while we’re at it can we stop using Status Quo and Saxon as examples of who the typical Downloader wants to see.
