  1. Self Esteem is clearly a "someone pulled out and maybe a couple of other choices didn't come through" booking but it makes sense, both for how much of a draw she is now and that apart from one Sheffield tent gig a couple of weeks later it tops and tails the Prioritise Pleasure era at the same place. Bit of a weak second announcement but there's a few things of interest. Seems the Clashfinder is being updated as I type so I'll have to see how everything works out then. I notice they're not opening Mountain on Thursday after last year's first time.
  2. a) no; b) they're headlining Y-Not and Truck, both much bigger than GM.
  3. Nothing more than guesswork as far as I know, on the belief that as they have a month-long US tour starting in about three weeks' time and may well have been in the studio the announcement is being held up by an embargo, which isn't impossible (although as it's less than twelve weeks away they'd be cutting it fine) but it's more likely to be due to needing a replacement after a pull-out.
  4. I've done what will probably be the last Clashfinder update (unless something major happens) before the day splits are announced, which were July 20th last year but June 14th in 2019 so I'd imagine will be somewhere between those. Remember this is part speculative but fully based on day self-confirmations and gigs elsewhere.
  5. Other two are doubtful but given last year's pullout I'd be really surprised if Gabriels are in the country and don't play, it'd feel like EOTR were wrongfooted somehow by their being over here (they've also just been added to APE the week before, which they were also going to play last year) Similarly it's odd that Jeffrey Lewis is in the country (at Manc Psych) if he's not there. But as I say, there's now so few places left to fill compared to last year that it might end up coming down to whether anyone pulls out.
  6. Remember they have to make another announcement anyway as there's still about 30 artists down on last year, and unlike 2019 when Yo La Tengo were moved up to headline at a late stage (it was announced in July with the day splits) they're actively mentioning that there's a headliner to come.
  7. 3. Their US tour begins on September 2nd,which doesn't sound like a "big gap over EOTR" to me.
  8. Just need to remind everyone suggesting so many bands that compared to last year there are currently three fewer acts, and because of the possibility of Angel's time changing and the Tipi late night set-up there may be fewer than that to actually be added.
  9. My wording may have been a bit strong but I do get the impression (and I don't just mean from here) that people think Simon set out to fleece people buying early birds, or just tickets at that price, by not delivering the strength of headliners they wanted. But EOTR will most likely sell out or at least they're confident of doing so, they wouldn't sell out until July or August in pre-Covid years anyway and their social media doesn't seem to be pressing for sales at the moment.
  10. What? There's no way this is going to happen. Why would you advertise a set of headliners for six months, to the extent that you're having to apologise for someone else who should have headlined but won't be, and then suddenly announce otherwise? And Pulp clearly don't have embargos in place given how much they've already been announced for. Some people really do seem to be under the impression that the festival has gone out of its way to knowingly rip them off.
  11. Almost as if it's a cheap, viral-happy, constantly publicity seeking vehicle for a major international brewery whose records arm was set up by a pair of far-right activist twins, one of whom vehemently campaigned against the Irish in Britain having any freedom or rights until the IRA killed him.
  12. Thanks! The idea really was to see if it looked better as a schedule than as a list after all the arguments about the first announcement on here, and spread like that it looked a lot stronger and has become if anything more so over time.
  13. Rising competition shortlist is out: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfaFfd0Y8PRwkP9wON6EoTDiksuCiFkCke0uzr_u3G_7cGYuw/viewform
  14. Not really, the only actual UK festivals (ie not a Styles/Pulp support in a stadium or big park) they're doing are Radio 1's and Reading & Leeds. The main bloke behind End Of The Road gave an interview a little bit ago where he said he had a female band headliner lined up for this year and lost them to an exclusivity clause, which people are assuming were Wet Leg as they decided to form the band while at EOTR and are the best fit on that R&L line-up.
  15. I can tell you who Clashfinder users are most excited about as these are currently the most highlighted acts: 10= Arooj Aftab/caroline 9 The Murder Capital 7= Ezra Furman/PVA 6 Future Islands 5 King Gizzard 4 Panda Bear & Sonic Boom 3 Deerhoof 2 Wilco 1 Angel Olsen
  16. UMO are confirmed for Friday, King Gizz and Ezra are Sunday.
  17. Issue then is who headlines Garden, as that far up the bill and with the self-confirmations so far the best options are Fatoumata Diawara, Kokoroko, Greentea Peng or The Murder Capital, who - and I know this is going to sound a bit weird - feel better suited to being Woods subs than Garden headliners.
  18. Subbed Woods last time so it's most likely she's moving up to headline.
  19. They're headlining the Saturday, on the basis that as I mentioned a few posts back we already know which of the headliners are confirmed for Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
  20. Wilco were confirmed by the festival and UMO had the 1st listed on one of their press releases.
  21. She's actually in Europe for a few weeks and has a gap between Vienna on the 31st and Cologne on the 4th. Even so I'd be surprised if she's playing so soon after headlining.
  22. He's always been on the line-up from the first announcement. Do you mean he's pulled out? Because it's impossible to find tour dates for him.
  23. Last year there were two regular announcements, then a whole bunch more (mostly because of the launch of the Boat stage and a handful of pullouts) came with the day splits on 20th July. Going by my reckoning for the clashfinder there's currently three slots left, and that's if nothing gets changed compared to last year (the two late Tipi places getting reclaimed by the secret sets or Angel Olsen's set starting earlier as with Magnetic Fields)
  24. Snail Mail is at Green Man. Expecting to add Jeffrey Lewis to the growing list of ideal overseas acts who are in the country that weekend and probably not playing. (Genuinely surprised that Nuha's not been named, though, especially as her old band Arrows Of Love played a couple of times)
