About tents: Yes, they do offer pre-pitched tents. Look for the 'Gllamcamp', and then they offer a basic and deluxe version. This year the basic for 2 persons was €79,50 pp (so €159 total) and you get a tent with two air beds. As far as I understand you can get a sleeping bag and pillow (as well as table and seats), but you have to buy them rather than rent. They also had 8 persons regular and army tents. They have a lot of options for deluxe (ranging from tipi to caravan, 2 to 9 persons), but costs a lot more of course (starting at €160 pp). This comes on top of your regular festival ticket of course.

I am not sure about food and drinks, but token price was €2,80 this year. So most drinks 1-3 tokens, most food 3-6 tokens would be my best guess. So pretty normal festival prices, never heard complaints about Lowlands being overly expensive.

    Thanks for that. Very helpful.

Faith No More's "The Real Thing" will turn 30 years old next year & I wouldn't be surprised if they would do a surprise Anniversary Tour. If Sziget would bring them, it would be also 10 years since they last played at the festival.

Now the question is if they are still Sziget headliner material... however, for the "Sziget-veterans", their 2009 performance is regarded as one of the bests in the festival's history. I'm going only since 2015, but I wish to see this band live, even if it would be at the festival or at an arena show.

I saw them at Pukklepop the year a stage diver famously smashed his face up on the barrier. They were awesome and would see them again and could see them playing Sziget, just not headliner.

Does anyone really think they’d book Metallica. For me szigets sadly becoming a festival for the 16-22 year olds. If you look on feedback and sales Shawn Mendez and Kygo were the most bankabale stars this year.

I think Metallica are one of those crossover acts that both young and old like. I personally think it's a good shout that they would book them but you can never really tell with Sziget.

  3. My top acts in no particular order

Arctic monkeys (I love all of their albums and them live and this was my favourite time of seeing them)

Shame (so good live, the bassist was entertaining, had to buy tickets for their tour after)

Beans on toast (great crowd, played loads of songs about the 8th time seeing him)

King Gizzard (was so looking forward to them, glad they didn't disappoint)

Liam Gallagher (loved every minute, nostalgia)

Stormzy (got there tired and hot just in time for his show, danced around our bags)

Tom Grennan (improved since I last saw him about 2 years ago)

Gogol Bordello (great party before the storm)

Wolf Alice (last 20 minutes or so as saw Liam Gallagher but just love them)

2nd time of being at Sziget and was still just just as impressed with the festival. The sound for many of the stages is some of the best I've heard but it's a shame the A38 sound is so inconsistent.

I just looked at the line up schedule and its written that all the headliners are performing really early like 2pm how is that possible it supposed to be at night

It doesn't say that on my schedule. Acts don't usually start Until about 4pm on the main stage with headliners on a out 9.30pm. in fact most states don't start until the afternoon.

I on the other hand really like Tom and find that replacement great. Plus lets be honest, past years replacements have always been random Hungarian bands, but this time they have managed to book same size international acts. Yellow Days to Tom Grennan, Sam Feldt to Blasterjaxx. I have to give them props for that, especially since cancellations were not festivals' fault.

Yeah I like Tom Grennan. I saw him at Y Not festival 2 years ago I think and was impressed. He's got better since but even if I didn't like his music I would still think it's a decent replacement.

@Yelo, the ParmiggianaI totally agree with you, only to have pointed out that an artist like Yellow Days (a talented modern bluesman) in my opinion was better than Tom Grennan (a shitty pop artist) I took some  downvotes ... so music quality really matters little to the modern user, it counts instagram, the views etc ... I'm not amazed that the day with more sales is that of Mendes / Kygo ...

I think you took some downvotes because it didn't come across well. I think Tom Grennan is a good replacement this soon before the festival. He may not be to your taste and that's fair enough to point out but to diss the booking in the way you did was unfair. Music quality is largely down to opinion its just that when it comes to Tom Grennan his quality is in his voice.

    Quick thoughts about the selling:

    - The 3days option introduced last year (because they were about to break for the low sellings) has been a bomb, saved the sellings last year and showed to be super efficient. Could be that the management realizes that the price for a 7days are too expensive for the average goer (not from the northern europe)? Could be that they wil focus onto 3days sections of the week, creating a continuum between the span of days?

    - The most selling day so far is Shawn Mendes-Kygo, which is shit. AM would have been the best one by far but the last album is a bummer for the average listener and The War on Drugs is a classy pick, so I dont expect it to sell out so easily. This, in my opinion, goes in two directions: the first, thematic days, as I expect that Bastille-Mumford and Sons (drawing the same audience) will sell more than LykkeLi-Kendrick Lamar, although Kendrick is a most relevant pick and Mumford being on tour everywhere last year; the second, last year, despite being the most critical condemned lineup has been the second most selling year ever. Probably Sziget wins at lineup management by calling to perform lazy acts as Shawn Mendes (but more than that, Bastille or Kygo), probably a party-festival the way Sziget is meant to be cannot co-exist without Instagram performers in those years.

    Any opinion?

I think it's less to do with expense of the 7 day ticket. Maybe more to do with most people generally only like doing festivals for 3-4 days max. I think the expense only comes into it because people have to pay for food and drink and that can add up over 7 days.

Regarding the days that have sold well is there any announcements that what you're saying is correct? I don't doubt it but I haven't seen anything to back up what you're saying.

I don't have any problem with days when Sean mendes is playing being the days best days for ticket sales. If people like it fair enough. Im personally not a fan.

I see Sziget as a festival that tries to cater for everyone. I think they do a good job with that but this is why every year people moan about how bad it is. Truth is, some years will be better for me than other years but at least they have real variety.

Is VIP camping worth the extra price you pay for it?

I don't think it is. Yeah you have a little more room, slightly better toilets and a swimming pool but unless it's moved from 3 years ago it's close to the beach DJ area so you have non stop loud music until the early hours of the morning, there's hardly any shade, the toilets aren't amazing and the swimming pool was always packed.

Probably better off paying a little extra for somewhere like alternativa camping or something similar.

Anybody got any idea how many more announcements there will be? Are there any more headliners to be announced?

I see they have said that theatre, dance, arts etc are to be announced through March.

Regarding music entertainment I reckon 1 more main stage headliner plus a couple of subs and headliners for other stages.

A few more line up announcements still to come, probably in March, April and May. But with sziget it's hard to tell when and how many.

    Correct.

Might be a good time to get a cheap hotel and explore Budapest. I tried to move flight times last year and it was going to be nearly as much as the flight.

Thanks, is there any good tips of what site is best to find cheap hotels.

I went to sziget a couple of years ago, managed to see some of Budapest and that was the tipping point of going again this year. And of course the festival is great.

  11. Just bought tickets and flights however I got flights coming back on 16th as I was assuming that the festival finishes on the 15th so could camp over that night but all the information suggests not. Does that mean there's no music on the 15th and that it's a moving out day?

  12. I like this line up so far. A nice mix.

Can't wait to see Shame. Their album is very good. Wolf Alice can do no wrong in my eyes, Gogol Bordello are good live, Liam Gallagher's album was better than expected and he seems like he is getting it right live too. Plenty of others worth seeing as well.

For me this is as good as a first line up than any of the other festivals that have announced that are around August time.

  13. Just a quick question.

I went in 2015 and had a brilliant time. We stayed in a basic caravan in the VIP area and are thinking about going again next year I just can't remember when the glamping type stuff sells out. It doesn't have to be a caravan but if anyone has a good idea when the accommodation is likely to sell out by that would be good as we are hoping to buy in February or March time.

    Thanks

  14. Evening all,

Haven't posted in here for a while but thought I would as I've recently injured my back (not unusual for me except for its affecting a different side to normal) and this is causing me to be losing more sleep than my average 4 or 5 hours. As a result I find myself nodding off throughout the day and today I had a dream where I was looking at a sun dial that had a sun god carving on it which came to life and kept on repeating "no sun for you". I am now thinking I have completely lost the plot or I need more sleep or the most logical thing is I need to praise the weather gods more often........

I have enjoyed the madness of the last few days of NFR NFC.

People seem very busy with fun stuff.

Funkyfairy a friend of mine does roller derby and she loves it. It does seem good fun.

  15. I love the Maccabees and their song "toothpaste kisses" is going to be the 1st song at my wedding and seen them a few times including at szgit festival last year and was genuinely surprised how high up the bill they were. In my opinion they have the back catalogue and the stage presence to headline but think their next album would have to be well received and more popular than any of their other albums to headline.

They're are a similar level to Foals.

I do think that they do need to start promoting up some of the acts that would normally play sub or headline the other as there seems like there's loads of acts at the moment that are about as popular as each other.
