As with last years I save all my Christmas HMV vouchers for this time of the year.
So which Elbow CD do you folks advise me to buy?
-
Get Seldom Seen Kid.
Still play a lot of it in the set. And it is awesome.
-
Scattered Black and Whites has always been my favorite, off the first album and is just magical. Was so pleased when the played it as the closing track on the last tour
switching off is a close one as well. such an emotional song that needs to be heard
-
The only Elbow song I know is Grounds for Divorce (which I rather like). Could anyone give me a few songs or a best of track list to listen to because I want to know what all the fuss is about!? Either that or I'll go & see Mumford & Sons.

OMG..
Clashing already
Oh well get me to Worthy farm and I won't care too much..
Had decided on Munfords as had missed them so far..
This has blown that..

I'm very optimistic about the new album, the previews they've posted on Youtube sound amazing and I'm sure BARB will be amazing. Very lucky, the intimacy must've made it a truly stunning gig, I'm a tiny bit worried about how they'll fare in an arena but I'm sure they'll blow everyone away.
Fair enough, I'm not surprised really, that chorus must be bloody hard for him now, I'd love to hear the opening piano bit to Red on the Pyramid though, wow.

Krafterk - Autobahn
Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn
Pink FLoyd - Pulse (maybe cheating a bit there!)
-
Very unlikely but...
OR
I'd be the happiest man alive if they played either. Will be seeing them at the end of the month at the O2, will let you know how good they are, but my god Elbow into U2 will be sublime.

Saw them in Cambridge last night, what an awesome show they put on - even taking account of Guy forgetting the words to Starlings!
They were on for just over 2 hours, played 6 or 7 songs from the new album which sounded really good. Particularly enjoyed Birds
They also played just about everthing from the Seldom Seen Kind, and Great Expectations, Station Approach and Puncture Repair from LOTW
Guy really knows how to work the crowd and it was an evening I will never forget
Great to see them in such as small venue (800 capacity!)
Bring on Glasto!

I know its personal tastes but thats a terrible line-up for me, I cant think of anything on there I would get excited about seeing
The problem with V is thats all there is (subject to a few more additions) - if you dont like that there there is nothing else to do or see, other than getting bladdered
The thing with Glasto is that if that was the Pyramind and Other Stage line up I wouldn;t care because I know that there are 80 odd other stages to go to where I would find someone I had never heard of before and would really enjoy. (Acoustic, Bimble Inn, Park, Avalon, Leftfield, etc, etc) That is why I love Glasoobury, its finding something I have never heard before but enjoy (M83 in 2005, holy F*ck in 2008, Beach House in 2010, etc.) Whether its music, cabaret, crahshed aeroplanes, permaculture gardens, tightrope walkers, or whatever

I haven't read everthing on this thread but me view is quite simple. Glastonbury is about you. If you want to enjoy yourself you will, but its up to you to make yourself enjoy it. It is not about the headliners, thats what makes Glasto different. There is so much more to do/see/experience. I wonder if the problem is the people you are going with, of the fact that you are spending too much time at the main stages? If you enter the true spirit of the festival then you will love it whatever. I love bimbling about the site, wandering around the permature garden, sitting at the stone circle for an hour in the early hours, lying around inside the Bimble Inn listening to stuff I would never have heard anywhere else or just sitting outside the Acoustic tent having a can of lager.
My advice would be to either go on your own this year, or go with like minded people, of which there are many around these forums. Stay away as much as possible from the main stages and just wander around and find things. Anyhting

There will be no queues at all Friday evening. We arrived Thursday afternoon last year and went straight in (and we drove from East to West parking voluntarily!) 95%+ of people will be on site by Thursday evening so it will not be a problem at all arriving on Friday

If anyones getting a virus called System Tool then heres how to get rid of it:
1. Click the registration link on the programme that poses itself as anti-virus sofware.
2. Enter the follwoing registration code: WNDS-SODF5-GS5E0-FG145-2DF8G (If this one doesn't work then PM me and I'll give you more.
3. Click OK and allow the (fake) scan
4. Restart the PC when it's finished scanning.
I found this on a website and it worked for me!

Can you remember what you downloaded, I have the ame problem today?
Thanks
i went in to safe mode with networking, went online and downloaded a program called hitman pro 3.5, you get 30 days free trail with it, ran the program, took about 5 minutes to check the hard drive and delete the files, after the restart everything was back to normal. i take it you've got the malware that changes your wallpaper to loads of warning signs and your computer goes mental !

Its the same sytem tools file that infected me about 10 days ago on here, it gets on ur computer via java, it says ur computer is infected an brings up fake antivirus software that you need. It also shuts down loads of programs and wont let you open them claiming that the exe files are infected. I had to go into safe mode, download a remover to put it right.
Can you remember what you downloaded, I have the ame problem today?
Thanks

I think it will be the biggest crowd ever at the Pyramid

In deference to the smiley, I won't get offensive or sweary, but.....
I think you'll find that last year's weather is ENTIRELY acceptable, nay, desirable.
Whilst you are entitled to your incorrect opinion, it nevertheless remains incorrect. So please don't drag it's sorry arse in here, just to have the last lifeless breath kicked out of it.
In the absence of Langdale Wolf, this is my house, you either agree with me or are wrong.

Well pleased to read the rumours and see Battles down as a strong rumour. Hadn't heard of them until they appeared on Jools Holland a few years back. Saw them at the Park a couple of years back - I think after MGMT had finished, so everyone else who had not heard of them, which was nearly everybody, was leaving! - really enjoyed them. Great music, really original, Love to see them have a slot in the JP this year

Saw it in the newsagent this afternoon.
However, it being an edition of Q with elbow on the front, I stayed the f**k away.
-
I think they have to play, they will lose (more!) credibility if they dont play this year after what happened last. It would look as is they are only after the money which I do not think to be the case. The reasons being:
They were due to play last year
The Edge did play last year
The Edge said how great Glasto was last year
The U2 website subtley hinted at them playing this year
Rumour that Elbow were playing before U2 (was this real?)
They will look a bunch of arses it the ynow dont play
It would be great to hear something official though, does seem a tad strange that U2 were not confirmed first after what happedned last year

I remember that, hilarious. Wasn't it "Big Train" that was on. Comedy genius (especially the sketch in the Funeral Directors where the two people were playing table tennis in the background)

After Elbow, my next favourite band. Excellent live, they are so suited to Glasto. Gutted it seems like things are not working out anymore. I think there is no chance this year unfortunately. Hopefully they will sort things out and be back at Glasto in 2013.
Doves on the Pyramid in 2005 is a personal highlight for me. Loved them in the grey drizzle that evening, especially when they played Satelites.
