I used to think so but this year literally half of their headliners are guitar-oriented.
There are many bands in the undercard, just not so famous yet, new generation of rock (Black Honey, Nova Twins, Palaye Royale, Giant Rooks, Iceage etc.)

I can highly recommend Black Honey. Great live band.

True for some reason he's not getting the same love in the UK, certainly in comparison with US (Coachella closing act, sold out Madison Square Garden...).

Not seeing which other big act could fill the spot...

Harry Styles, Twenty One Pliots, Imagine Dragons, Billie Eilish, Lorde... are either not touring in that period or touring on a different continent mid/late august. Maybe if they are willing to offer the same fee, one of those acts might willing to accept the logistic headache for an exclusive show at Sziget

My daughter saw Lorde at a small venue in UK earlier this month (2,000 capacity) and she said it was probably the best gig she's ever seen (and she been to around 100). All of the others are significantly 'bigger' names IMHO but Lorde would certainly do well in a sub spot.

If JB cancels, I'm pretty sure they gonna make Stromae the headliner, taking in account the amount of French and Dutch visitors (I feel like there's more hype in The Netherlands than in Belgium, which is strange for a 100% dutch speaking country hehe)

Went to Werchter Boutique in Belgium last weekend, a sold-out 63k one day festival he co-headlined with Gorillaz, and he absolutely murdered it with an insane liveshow. He got multiple 5-star reviews for it. He played just before Gorillaz, and 1/3 of the crowd left after his show, which is quite an indication of how insane popular he is in western Europe.

I suspect you are right, but they'd clearly need someone to take over Stromae's spot. Plus, they'd have to handle the negative press and refund all those who purchased purely for JB - which will be a lot.

Incidentally, although he appears to have a strong following on mainland Western Europe I'm not sure he has much of a following in the UK, which supplies a large number of visitors to Sziget. I'd never heard of him but will be giving him a go based on the various reports related to his amazing live shows.

Justin Bieber has cancelled all June and July tour dates and they are set to be rescheduled. Justin is hopeful of continuing his tour in August.

I've said before that I don't wish any ongoing ill health on JB but he was the headliner my party had the least interest in seeing (ie no interest). If he cancelled, I'd be really interested in seeing what Sziget did with his slot. From my selfish point of view, they couldn't book an alternative headliner who I was less likely to see.

I wonder if Metallica are available.....

Traffic in Budapest is running okay without the Chain Bridge. You’ll be fine. We have many other bridges haha.

You'd be better off getting off the Train (HÉV) a stop earlier at Margit híd, then taking Tram 4/6 or Tram 2 depending on where your apartment is. The ferry’s only run 5 times per day and are always ridiculously packed during Sziget.

Our apartment is over the bridge too. I didn't realise the bridge was closed. We are behind the Four Seasons, which tram would we need?

  6. JB has cancelled 5 shows already and has 6 more in the diary until beginning of July. His diary is free then until 31 July. I suspect he'll cancel the remaining 6 which will give him almost 7 weeks to get himself right ahead of his European mini-leg in August.

I suspect he'll be at Sziget. If not, then the poor bloke will have some real issues to deal with that are far more important than a few missed gigs.

Harry styles is not possible btw. He needs to be in Canada the 15th. So he will only have two days in between. Wont happen looking at logistics and travelling.

JB's date is 12 August at Sziget. I'd say Harry could easily play and make Canada on 15th without any issues.

  8. If JB does pull-out and Harry Styles is unable to appear, I can't think of any other comparable act who is around and available. There will be a huge JB sized hole in Sziget's line-up and it certainly can't be filled by Black Eyed Peas, Jack Harlow or Maneskin.

No one answered my question. I have a ticket for first 3 days and would like to change it to just day 1. Is it possible?

You'd be far better off reaching out to the festival organisers than asking us tbh.

Bit of an over reaction on biebers condition, will be back doing live shows shortly.

I used to work with someone who had Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Their paralysis lasted four years.

That said, I'm sure Bieber will have the very best doctors sorting him out.

  12. Firstly, let me say that I wouldn't wish facial paralysis on anyone and I hope he gets better soon.

Now that's out of the way, if Bieber does need recovery time and has to pull out of Sziget then there is only one comparable headliner IMHO and that's Harry Styles. Now, Harry plays Budapest one month earlier but that's sold out and he's free from beginning of August to 15th so he could do it and his popularity is unquestionnable.

Appreciate this is incredibly unlikely though.

But if Bieber does pull out then Sziget will have to refund all day ticket holders for that day and then resell a lot of tickets very quickly with a new headliner, and keep all 3 and 6 day ticket holders sweet (ie not just move Stromae to headliner).

oh I wish @Sziget2022_Leakswas still around to give us something. Can we expect something according to new names? anything about the time slots? I miss you 😞

I suspect the only new names for the main two stages now will be either Hungarian acts most of us will not have heard of or replacement acts for acts dropping due to Covid. Sadly, I think we are done and no more big names.

    Wow so excited for this!

I can't see them playing that at Sziget. They only played it last night as The Strokes had pulled out of Primavera at the last minute due to Covid.

I actually think that's it for Main Stage and FreeDome. There are only few 4pm Main Stage slots and some late DJ sets left and these can be easily filled with Hungarian acts.

I wonder if they're leaving spaces on, say, the KOL and Tame Impala days to see how they sell. If sales need a boost then add a bigger name and  if not, then add a local act.

I've seen other festivals announce a sudden 'special guest' with a few weeks to go.

  16. For my musical tastes, this year's line-up is probably a 6 or 7 out of ten at best.

We bought tickets and flights before the line-up was announced and, if I'm honest, if we hadn't done that then we probably would have given this year a miss.

BUT we have got tickets, we are looking forward to it and have around a dozen acts we want to see so, as long as Hungary's inflation stays under control and the beer stays cheap, we should be in for a good time!!

Lot has been said about the lineup in whats coming or not, but the Monday is going to be an amazing day. Pity its not near the start of the festival, always knackered by the last day.

    Arctic Monkeys

    Sam Fender

    Fontaines D.C.

    Inhaler

    Clutch

    Holly Humberstone

    Iceage

What a great day that will be.

Saw Holly at festivals twice in 2021 and only lasted about 10 minutes each time. She's got a great voice and some lovely songs, but she is so nervous it feels like watching a kids' talent show. Hoping she's managed to find her feet a little more.

They can’t do that. People booked flights even the posters pressed are with the wrong dates then. It’s 100% a mistake.

Mad Cool did this earlier for this year. Just added an extra date at the end for a reduced price with more local acts (plus a couple of bigger acts, such as Jack White and Sam Fender). Perhaps Sziget are going to do the same, they mentioned more local acts at the press conference recently iirc. Perhaps an extra day, at a cheaper price for locals to come and see what the festival is all about?
