Yep, Tame Impala would be great ^^

Tomorrow, Balaton is talkin' to us.. that will give us some indications about the EDM acts !

o, only 30 names ?? that means there will be another wave, in April i suppose... so we might not get ALL of the headliners in 6 days 😮

If they are going to start selling day tickets then they need to name all headliners really.

Nick Cave released a solo song last year called White Elephant and he's headlining Primavera Sound this year

I was pretty sure it was Tame Impala, but since there are people saying they were ruled out...

He has been rumoured on and off for the past few months as he's playing a ton of festivals this summer. Could be a possibility but the clue could've been a lot clearer if it was him!

Them Crooked Vultures (the supergroup formed by Josh Homme, John Paul Jones and Dave Grohl) also have a song called Elephants.

I don't think Josh Homme will be doing anything other than keeping a low profile this summer tbh

I am personally just wishing it is not Justin Bieber at this time hahaha. Definately not a Festival act in my opinion, just let him do his own concerts. But if Sziget manages to catch him they do have one of the biggest pop stars. Would work out just like Ed Sheeran a while back to attract a lot of people to the festival (Mostly woman I guess haha).

I guess most people on this forum will not welcome a Bieber announcement, but then I guess that we are not his target audience. I also don't think he would attract anywhere near as many day ticket sales as Ed (not many acts would). I truly don't know who is a Bieber fan nowadays. It used to be teen girls but they'll all be in their late twenties now. Maybe just general pop fans?

Very literally taken : “ Don’t think about the elephants” is a song by Hans Zimmer. He is touring this year. He has been on Coachella. But would he fit for Sziget?

I thought that too but he's playing Budapest in April.

Why are The Who being mentioned?

I mentioned they did a song on Quadrophenia called Sea and Sand, which matches the first image Leaks posted. Plus, they're back on the road again this year. No other reason and highly unlikely I would guess but its nice to dream.

  7. If it's The Who, Bieber and Tame Impala then we've got 2 pop headliners and 4 guys with guitars headliners. No rap and no EDM.

That's never going to happen, so I reckon The Who can be discounted at least.

Take it how you may but Justin Bieber has a Sziget-sized gap in the European leg of his tour and I don't think he's ever done Hungary

He would fall under the mega category. However, does he have a history of playing festivals? I can't imagine the average Arctic Monkeys fan rushing to Sziget in the knowledge that they'd also see Justin Bieber. The festival will just be full of day ticket holders. And t-shirt sales would drop. I wouldn't be seen dead in anything baring his name, so that's one t-shirt sale lost!

The gap in his schedule is concerning though!

EDIT: His March '23 gig in Budapest still has tickets left at all price points, other than the two cheapest. If he can't even sell out one arena date in the city then a 80,000 person festival would appear to be a stretch too far. Fingers crossed!

You forgot about Billie Eilish. She went big the last few years - which is also an aspect mentioned earlier - never been to Hungary and also a big act.

I went for acts who you would expect to play stadiums (or are approaching that level). Billie's a good shout but, personally, I wouldn't class her as mega. But I could be wrong. IMHO she'd be the least interesting booking of all the names suggested so far.

The Weeknd gig from Budapest was cancelled and wasn't rescheduled yet, so he might be the headliner indeed.

Ah, my bad. Just saw he was down to play in November 22. Didn't realise it had been cancelled.

  11. The two possibilities which jump out at me are Kanye or Eminem. Kanye is doing Coachella so we know he's happy to play live again. Eminem is doing the Superbowl this weekend with Dre and will be looking to capitalise that exposure. I don't THINK either have played Hugary before.

Those it can't be, as they have played Hungary or are scheduled to:

    Coldplay

    Gaga

    Justin Timberlake

    Tame Impala

    Metallica

    Pearl Jam

    Beyonce

    Springsteen

    The Weeknd

    Guns n Roses

    AC/DC

Not sure who else counts as mega. Has Taylor Swift played Hungary?

  12. Finger in the air time. Of the 40 acts already announced, how many are likely NOT to be playing the main stage or A38 stage? Just trying to work out how many more 'known' acts are due (approx 60 in total playing the two stages). Are we halfway there?

    lowland leaked lineup.

id take james blake, arlo parks &tash sultana

I'd say that's a far better first announcement than Sziget's to be honest. Mind you, there are more names so probably just easier to pick a dozen you fancy seeing. Decent line-up though, and only three days. If my maths are correct the two festivals will be sharing at least seven names.

Trying to get some friends to come with us to Sziget this year and it's hard. That first announcement contained some good names but a lot of unknowns and fluffy stuff (Capaldi, Bastille, Jade Bird, Beabadoobee etc)

It's crying out for some guitars. Hope Foals and Biffy can make an appearance somewhere.

  14. Nah, I'm not having Christina as headliner. Not a chance.

Not a fit, not relevant, not going to sell tickets to anyone in the target demographic. Just......no.

It'd be a massive step back for a festival which has aspirations of being the biggest and best in Europe.

day tickets ? it depends on the artists of the day, especially the headliner.. Does anyone remember if they were still day tickets for Ed Sheeran or Foo Fighters day in 2019 ?

Ed sold out, including the additional tickets they were able to find from somewhere! No other days did, including Foos.

When do we think the next announcement is likely to be? Before the end of Feb? Got a couple of friends who are interested but need to know more before booking anything.

As countries begin to emerge from the Omicron crisis, I suspect (hope) that there will be a real positivity in the air.

I reckon we will get something in four or five weeks' time that announces the main body of the acts.

  17. We are twenty weeks away from the start of the festival. Three weeks ago I was certain it would still go ahead. I'm not so certain now BUT it may change again in the next three.

Hopefully, we will see the growth start to slow in the next few weeks like we did in China.

People just need to do as they're told and prioritise others above themselves for a change.
