Rock en Seine just revealed that they're releasing their line-up at 9pm on Monday 10 Feb.

Along with R&L revealing that they're announcing next week too, I wonder whether the same act will be announced for both?

Could mean, if Sziget is sharing the same name, that we also get something Monday or Tuesday?

    Eminem maybe?

9pm in Paris is noon in L.A so reckon RATM tbh.

Do ticket prices normally rise on or around first announcement

I reckon they're announcing on 17 or 18 Feb and leaving two weeks at early bird price. Ties in with the rumoured 17 Feb announcement for Eminem too.

Kings of Leon - Calvin Harris - Shawn Mendes - Eminem - Tiesto - Katy Perry - Bon Iver.

I'd see Calvin Harris, Eminem and Katy Perry of that lot.

My kids and their friends would no doubt want to see Shawn Mendes.

Neither of us will have the slightest interest in Bon Iver, but might give KOL the benefit of the doubt despite their poor live reputation.

Which leaves Tiesto who I know absolutely nothing about. I assume he'll just be another Garrix-type act?

  4. I got 'free' tickets for BMTH at APE last year and went along for the craic, despite knowing hardly any of their stuff.

I thought they played very well. Sadly, I thought the stuff they played was mostly shite.

I'd be very underwhelmed if they were announced. Not headliners in my mind.

  5. Morning all

I've been awake for a few days and just catching up on the leaks. Sorry to say that I don't believe them fornthe following reasons:

Two EDM headliners smells like 2017 and they'd never make that mistake again.

Lana and Shawn are not returning after only two years. One possibly but definitely not two.

The leaker stated The Neighbourhood and then backtracked.

Foster the People signed 'three hours ago? If that's the case, mot many people would know so he risked outing himself.

Eminem? Maybe but is probably just guesswork. Could have also gone with RATM I suppose.

Why no mention of who the EDM headliners are?

The headliner line-up as it stands is weak as piss. Eminem, Shawn, Lana and 2 x EDM. Nah, I don't buy it.

Sorry dud if you're telling the truth but, for my sake and the same of the line up I really hope you're lying through your teeth!

Meanwhile Kendal Calling (30 Jul - 02 Aug) also announced their first acts:

    • The Kooks
    • Dizzee Rascal
    • Johnny Marr
    • You Me At Six
    • DMAs
    • Sundara Karma
    • Pale Waves
    • The Magic Gang
    • Scouting for Girls
    • 808 State
    • The Zutons
    • Easy Life
    • Sister Sledge
    • Elvana
    • Shaggy
    • Jade Bird

I'd only take Easy Life and Jade Bird from that list.

Eminem, Shawn Mendes, Foals, Khalid, Tom Walker, The Neighbourhood and Of Monsters and Men?

Not aware of touring schedule of most of them, but that sounds reasonable - and partially

I'd say Foals, Khalid, Tom Walker and OMAM are all very likely.

Seems strange that they're mixed in a with a couple who seem pretty unlikely in Eminem and Shawn Mendes.

I'm bored and not done this for a few weeks, so here goes:

    • Billie Eilish subbed by Sigrid
    • Liam Gallagher subbed by Foals
    • Calvin Harris
    • The Strokes subbed by Biffy Clyro OR co-head of Biffy and BMTH
    • Travis Scott
    • Major Lazer co-head with Khalid
    • Tame Impala

I can absolutely see it being something similar to this. I'd only attend three of them though, four at a push.

Agree that it needs a mega name (like Ed Sheeran or Foos) that other festivals have this year (Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift or The Killers perhaps).

    Springsteen, RATM, Gaga or Adele

I'd certainly like any of the first three but can't imagine any of them (except, perhaps, Gaga) being on the Sziget wishlist after Sheeran last year, which resulted in big day ticket sales (and issues) but no significant increase (to the best of my knowledge) in 3, 5 and 7 day ticket sales.

What other festivals is she headlining lad? 😂😂

I don't think she's playing any. But, if she was playing Reading and Leeds she'd headline or co-headline, she's far too big to sub (or will be when the new album comes out). Hope that answers your question kid.

I can't imagine many of these showing up at Sziget (Primal Scream perhaps?) but, as an old fart, I would love it if Suzanne Vega had a late afternoon slot in A38.

A man can dream I suppose.....

I honestly thought that at least a couple of those acts were dead!

  12. I suspect their headliners are currently something like:

    - Liam Gallagher

    - Calvin Harris

    - Travis Scott

    - Bon Iver

And they're probably still on the hunt for a couple of big-hitters as there seems to be absolutely none around in August.

If that is the case, however, I cannot begin to understand how such important work wasn't signed, sealed and delivered by Christmas at the latest.

It stinks of agents making unreasonable demands, knowing the situation the organisers are in.

  13. Absolutely no chance of Dua Lipa being announced.

She's big enough to headline the main stage nowadays so there's no way she'd play any lower.

  14. In light of that statement by Sziget staffer I wonder when we will get first announcement now then?

If I was a betting man I would say we aren't going to hear anything for another month or so.

If they haven't managed to book seven headliners in the five months since the 2019 festival finished then it's unlikely it's a problem that will be solved in the next few days!

Yes, sorry!!! This is the correct link. :) Sadly I can't edit my previous comment anymore. It's not exactly a transcript, but it's more like a summary of what they discussed there. The part we are most interested in is this one (translated with Google Translate):

The worrying thing about all this is it appears we are not waiting for a big act to announce a tour. Rather, Sziget is just struggling to book decent headliners. At least they are honest about it. I couldn't imagine Melvin Benn at Reading and Leeds being so candid about their inability to attract the big names.

I'd love to know who is on the shortlist though!

  16. If Billie Eilish can headline European festivals then I think Halsey could at Sziget.

All R&L headliners in 2019 played Sziget (Post, Foo, 21 P, 1975). Three of them are from the U.S.

To make it financially viable for any headline U.S act to come to Europe they will need a couple of bookings at least.

So, for a similar situation to happen this year the acts would need to appeal to both sets of audiences again.

Which is why I think R.H.C.Ps, Killers, Halsey and Travis Scott are all strong possibilities. I also think Dua Lipa might happen (although she is British, obviously).

  17. I see Sziget was announced as a nominee in the Best Major Festival and Best Line Up categories at the European Festival Awards yesterday.

Results are announced on 15 January.

Wonder if they're hoping for a result there before making their first announcement?
